Editorial Review
If you've seen "The Exorcist" lately, the folks at Parker Brothers would like to extend a heartfelt "Captain Howdy-Ya-Do?" courtesy of their newly luminescent classic Ouija Board equipment. It's the same traditional setup as it was decades ago: the alphabet-and-numbers board with "Yes," "No," and "Good Bye" spelled out in turn-of-the-century mysterious script; the heart-shaped "Message Indicator Oracle" with the readout window; the numerous coy references to Ouija being "only a game--isn't it?" So if this edition seems to comprise a bit more plastic than we remember, the promise of the board and indicator glowing in the dark for half-an-hour (after exposure to lamplight for 10 minutes) more than makes up for it. Of course, in the dark you'll never know for sure whether the person across the board is the one pushing the indicator, now will you? --Tony Mason

Product Description
It has always been mysterious. It has always been mystifying. And now...it glows in the dark! Just ask it a question and wait to see what answer the Mystifying Oracle will reveal to you. You and a partner sit on opposite sides of the board, with your fingers placed lightly on the message indicator. One of you will ask a question. Now concentrate very hard on the matter at hand - and wait for the indicator to move and begin to reveal the answer through its message window. Will it tell you Yes or No' Will it give you a number or spell out an answer' For centuries, players have brought their questions to the Ouija board. What you do with the information it reveals is between you - and the Mystifying Oracle! Game includes: Ouija board and plastic message indicator. For 2 players.

1 out of 5 stars Tiny piece of junk   May 22, 2006

Hello there. I've been a collector of Ouija boards for many years. They keep getting smaller and junkier. They used to be almost two feet wide and now they're barely 12 inches. Ouija boards are alive and well, but not the ones made by Parker Brothers. You would be much better off getting a handmade wooden board for just a little more than this cardboard and plastic piece of junk. Just go to Google and search for "wooden ouija board" and find one there. Don't waste your money on Parker Brothers. And, keep in mind that this IS a game. Don't miss out on a fun game because of religion. Greed is a sin too, but Christians can still play Monopoly. You don't have to worship the devil to play with a Ouija board. Silly, silly reviewers. :-)

5 out of 5 stars Just a tool- but one to treat with respect.   February 6, 2006

I'm surprised that someone didn't think of making a glow-in-the-dark Ouija board long before this one came out. My only complaint is that both the board and the planchette are a bit smaller than standard- if you are comfortable with the standard board then this can definately be a bit distracting. It will hold a "charge" for approximately 30 minutes. Once again, if you are not used to time limits on your sessions, then this can also prove distracting. My advice is to keep the candles handy.

The talking board is only a tool- neither good nor evil. However, it is a tool far different from divination aids such as the tarot, runes, or the various I Ching methods. With all talking boards you are openly inviting the influence of disembodied entities. Be very careful what you are opening the door to. I wouldn't even consider using it without deep and sincere prayers for protection. Low-level spirits can only influence those who are "vibrating" on the same low level. Examine your motives and your maturity before you experiment here.

To some people tarot cards are just paper, to some this will just be plastic and fiberboard. YOU bring the vital component to the table. It all depends on your sensitivity and connection to the other side.

4 out of 5 stars I never thought I'd write a review for a Ouija board but...   February 26, 2005

First off, a Ouija board is not a toy! I have not really used one seriously since around 1989. I can tell you that several absolutely unexplainable things happened of which I will not go into too much detail in this particular forum. While all of the things that happened were freaky, one in particular involved driving to a location that the board spelled out for myself and my girlfriend (at the time). We didn't know if the address actually existed but thought we'd go there since it wasn't too far away if it really did exist (this was before the days of the Internet when I could have looked it up on Yahoo or Mapquest). When we got there, we could not believe that the address was real, but neither of us was willing to get out of the car and knock on the door (looking back, I almost wish we had). When we got back to her place, the first thing the board spelled out was, "I saw you outside my window." This is not a joke. This happened and it is one of several incidents. My girlfriend got scared and didn't want to play anymore and I've not really touched the board since. I can't explain the things that happened. I only know that several unexplainable things occurred and that I am telling the truth. The unknown is fun and exciting, but it can also be scary and dangerous! Play at your own risk!

4 out of 5 stars It's Cool   December 27, 2000

I've played the Ouija Board since I was a kid and I've always found things of this nature very mysterious, also, I must warn that it's not a game, no it's not to just play with and I strongly do not reccomend to any kids under the age of 10. Things like this shouldn't have kids involved. But I would also like to say that the Ouija Board is a fun game if the person you're playing with is fun too and tries not to move it. It's just pathetic when they do that. The Ouija Board also isn't for the spiritually weak or people who "...don't believe in things like this..." it also spoils the fun if you get a person like that and it also brings negative energies to the board. For educational, I gave it a 2, how can you learn from this game? You can't really, just to learn how to read letters! haha, ok, well... But if you want some questions answered, a little laugh and a lot of memories, buy this item. I gave it a 4 because it's playing age is 8 and up when, in my opinion it should be 10 and up (2 years does make a difference), and once in a while it just doesn't seem to work. The durability of the Ouija Board is given a 4 because if you lose the circle with the point it won't work, but other than that it's all good, just put away after playing.

4 out of 5 stars Amazing & Real Working Game   July 24, 2001

I always wanted a ouija board. I had heard about things happening to people because of using it. I sort of believed it and sort of didn't. About 4 years later, I just had to get one and I ended up getting one with my own money. I got the Glow in the Dark Version since the original one is extinct. When I was about to use it I got the creeps and I thought about how this could change my life so I put it away in my garage and left it there for about 8 months without actually using it but playing aroung with it. I told my neighbor that I had one but I didn't use it at all. She told me if she could use it. I told her just to be careful with it. Since her cousin was there, they both used it. The next morning I called her and I could hear them laughing and saying, "Oh My Gosh."They were playing it and I asked them if it really did work. She said it's so cool. I went over her house in excitement and I sat there, watching them play and just seeing how quickly the message indicator would move across the board. I couldn't believe how accurate it spelled out everything. So we played all day long and time went by fast because we were so into it. The board told us it was a good spirit so we were okay. The next day it said strange things and creepy things so we decided to put it away and not use it for a while. It's really fun though but you just have to be careful with it. It's a must have. I recommend it to teenagers because you kind of know what you're doing but take it seriously or it won't work. Have Fun!!
