First Rate Toy (for all ages) December 29, 2006 Helen Highwater (California) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This Christmas we bought our second set of Magna-tiles. Their play value has lasted all year, and the expansion of the set was almost as exciting as the first set. My son is disabled, and these are great user-friendly toys with which any child can succeed. They've also survived the dog's inquisitive mouth. We personally like the clear colors, but were tempted to try the opaque tiles (with opening door/window). Last but not least, the tiles foster creativity.
Magna-Tiles Rock!!! May 28, 2007 D. Wheeler (quito, ecuador, sa) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My kids first saw these at a friends house a few months ago. Their Mom told me that no matter who comes to visit or how bored the kids are, these always get played with. I love the endless design options and ended up buying the "100" playset along with 4 of the "32" piece playsets for my sons 7th birthday. My kids (also a daughter age 8) have made every structure imaginable and continue to find new, inventive ways to play with these. I love that they add their own ideas on with their Magnetix playsets as well. I can forsee that these will help them with geometry as hands-on models that they can replicate...the uses for learning go on and on...from someone who still has all of our original lego duplo playsets, I can see this lasting indefinitely! Highly recommend this item if and when you can find it. Worth the high price!
Neat activity for a busy 4 year old! June 8, 2007 Miriam Folk (Jacksonville, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The real critic is my granddaughter who likes the Magna-Tiles lots! This particular set teaches about color combining because the tiles are translucent. We're finding out that once she figures out a combination she'll try it in paint as she is "arting." Originally saw it in a school; it works equally well at home and does not require direct teaching or too much explaining.
Magna-tiles...can't say enough great things about them! January 16, 2007 MPK (Michigan) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son discovered Magna-tiles last year (2005-2006) at school. They were a huge hit with all the 4 & 5 year old kids in the class, both boys and girls alike. It encourages them to use their imagination and it's amazing how creative they are when building. The designs choices are endless. They are study and very easy to use. We found them much less frustrating, as well as safer to use, than the ball and stick "magnetics". "Santa" brought them to our house last year (2005) after an extensive search. They weren't available on Amazon.com back then, but only at "specialty toy stores". Santa brought 2 sets (one clear and one solid) so that enhanced the building possibilities. They've been a favorite toy ever since. We were happy to find them available on Amazon.com this holiday season and bought them as a combined b-day/Xmas gift for a family friend. The only down-side is that they are a bit on the expensive side, but well worth the money in the long run.
It's a toss up as to who loves this toy most! May 7, 2008 ISUGrads97 (Illinois) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son received this for his 2nd birthday a few months ago, because of his intrest in it at a local children's museum. All I can say is that I'm uncertain who loves it more, him or his parents! It certainly sparks creative thinking as we try to outdo each other in our creations! I didn't realize that I had it in MYSELF to be so creative. This toy just brings it out of you. I swear I find myself playing with it for long periods of time when I'm actually just supposed to be putting it away! It's quite peaceful actually! The mathmatical concepts it's already teaching my son make it priceless as well! He's learning spacial reasoning, critical thinking (will this structure hold if I...) as well as shapes, colors and creativity. If you are like me, I faithfully read all the reviews before purchasing an item and went with others suggestions and purchased the clear tiles. Personally I like the clear tiles! The uses seem to be endless. I must add that although it is a large monetary investment, I feel it is wiser to purchase the set of 100 as 32 simply isn't enough. This toy will certainly span the ages, thus worth the investment.
