Product Description
Originally, this outstanding helicopter was designed for heavy load transports and a variety of other tasks within the U.S. Air Force. Besides its cargo role a special version was developed to locate and rescue pilots in enemy territory, who had been shot down. This helicopter received the designation HH-53 and was equipped with in flight refueling, extra tanks and defense armament in order to operate behind enemy lines during the Vietnam conflict of 1965 to 1972. A great number of pilots were saved thanks to these choppers, which are still in service today as the MH-53J. Plastic cement and paint are required for assembly, and are sold separately.
