I'd recommend any puzzles by Melissa and Doug. Our son loves them. He has mastered them all. We own over 20 puzzles like this, and he just has a blast with them. He just turned 2.

I bought this puzzle set for my 2 1/2 year old. The quality is excellent and daughter has enjoyed this toy since day one. I would definitely recommend this. A great way to start learning the alphabet and numbers.

My daughter just turned two and through the use of these puzzles and our encouragement, she can recognize all the letters and numbers and will bring them to us and tell us "it's a 'y' mama." We're working now, on counting the items underneath each number and doing "A for Apple". She's having so much fun and learning so much all at the same time.

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Classic Peg Puzzle Bundle
I love the Melissa and Doug puzzles. They use bright colors, they are easy for little hands to pick up and place, they are educatioal and they are FUN. These are my 18 months old granddaughters favorite. She knows almost all her letters and is working on her numbers. I would recommend these. My only complaint is that some of the pictures that go with the letters are not something a young toddler is familar with.

I give this to my 10 month old to play trying to improve his fine motor skills. He loved it very much. The peg is smaller than cheerios. The board is not as thick as the series which has the big pegs but is nice enough. The alphabet puzzle pieces are considerably smaller than the number and the fish puzzle. The pieces are fun and easy to fit into the board. I highly recommend it!
