We have many Melissa & Doug products at our house, and these peg puzzles are among them. I bought these for my 2 year old and he is now 28 months. He already had very good manual dexterity and fine motor skills, he seems mechanically inclined, he also already knew his colors, so matching was easy, and these only helpedfine tune those skills. He mastered these immediately, and I only wish I had purchased them sooner. He will still play with them, but they are completed so quickly, that while this activity used to hold his attention (quite a feat,) for 20 minutes or so, it's a 7-10 minute activity now. Like all Melissa and Doug items, they are high quality with pretty, charming artwork. I just recommend knowing your child's skill level with these types of toys and buying them at the approriate age, we could have used them at 18 months easily and gotten more play time out of them. The only concern would be that some of the pieces are kind of small, so use constant supervision, which these type of toys usually require anyway, if you are going to introduce them earlier. At least we have another little one now to pass them on to, we'll pull them out of storage sooner this time!

I bought these puzzles for my daughter for her second birthday. She is amazing at puzzles and we needed some more challenging ones. These were perfect. Because each puzzle has all the same shaped pieces, Ellie has to not only figure out which way the piece fits into the opening, but she also has to pay attention to the colorings on the piece. I don't know if all children care about those kind of things, but my daughter does, so when she accidently put the "bus" piece in the "fire truck" slot, she take a second look and says, "oh nooooo" and takes it out to figure out where it goes. I love it these puzzles and so does she. And I love how cute they are and that they are wooden to last through my son when he gets old enough.

We received the farm animal one for a gift. The puzzle says for 2+. Maybe it's my children, but they were past the wood shapes puzzles at 15 mos.
Cute concept. Nice craftsman ship. Made in China, but customer support says they've tested their toys and the toys are safe.
A good first puzzle for a younger baby (12-18mos) or as a first puzzle if your toddler's hasn't been introduced to puzzles yet. Not for a 2+ toddler who is doing 25-piece and up puzzles.

A great basic collection of the Melissa and Doug puzzle and board series. My son, age 20 months, has the dexterity to work the puzzles, is interested in the images on the puzzles, and finds great success in matching the pieces to their respective places. The colors are lively. The puzzles are well made. A great and worthy purchase!!!

We talk about the animals, do the animal sounds...talk about the cars and who drives them. Sometimes we switch the pieces for fun. Very happy with this toy! Great toy for a two year old! (probably too difficult for younger babies)
