Product Doesn't Work July 9, 2007 Richard (USA) 22 out of 29 found this review helpful
We purchased Moon in My Room. The Moon does not light up properly and, consequently, the remote control does not work. When we called Uncle Milton, we were informed that we would have to pay for shipping back to the company without receiving a refund for it. This is "policy." Our experiences with other children toy manufactures has been quite different and more positive. They have either refunded shipping or have provided us with free product for our time and trouble.
Faulty Battery Casing January 12, 2007 Ryan Baker (Colorado) 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
My brother, the uncle of my two sons, purchased this item for Christams. In the excitement of testing this item out they realized the battery backing was not able to be opened. The screw casing was stripped! No big deal, I thought, I would just call the company. They are not willing to replace the prodect unless I pay for shipping. They recomeded that I take it to a local store to replace knowing that it was purchased over 1000 miles away and not at a chain store! Passing the buck. I then asked to speak to a super visor and she repeated the same mantra, "sorry company policey." I never go to the lengths that I am now, but I am tired of companies not performing the basic duties of customer satisfaction. They want me to go to the post office and mail it to them at which time they will determine whose fault it is and then mail me a new one. When I asked if there was any way around said policy the manager told me I could write a letter. So here it is.
So cool! Unique addition to any kid's room. April 22, 2007 Amy Tiemann (Chapel Hill, NC USA) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I have seen boys and girls ages 2 to 8 captivated by Uncle Milton's "Moon in My Room." As an adult, frankly I think it's pretty cool too! The moon model has a contured, textured surface. It is a couple of inches thick, curved, so it has real depth. The moon cycles through 12 different phases. I have not seen any evidence of the light turning on automatically after dark, as advertised, but it works fine manually or by activating the automatic 5-seconds per phase cycle. The moon is lit up from a light within and the plastic does not glow in the dark when it is turned off. The Moon in My Room is advertised as appropriate for ages 6 and up, but since it's mounted on the wall I don't see why it can't go in a toddler's room as long as the remote control is secured. I will echo a previous reviewer's comment that you need to keep track of the remote, as I don't think it would work otherwise.
Moon in My Room January 18, 2007 K. Murphy (Texas) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This item works perfectly for a night light, probably one of the coolest night light's out there. It is perfect for kids that are afraid of the dark. It can be left in any phase of the moon, which helps control the amount of light being emitted. It can also be set to automatically change phases every five seconds. Of course, it is also a learning device, showing the various phases of the moon up close and comes with a cd, which we haven't listened to yet. I like the automatic shut off feature, so it doesn't matter if it is left on, which is handy at night. My first thought was that it appeared cheap and could have been slightly more realistic, so 4 stars.
Really Cool, Educational Night Light April 13, 2007 L. Doherty (Orland Park, IL) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Got this for my 9yr old. He liked it but loved it after his teacher borrowed it to show the class the phases of the moon. It's nothing fancy but I didnt expect it to be. How excited are the phases of the moon going to get? It's at best the most educational night light I ever bought for my son!!!!!!!! The whole family likes to change the phases with the remote. I do agree you need to keep a close eye on it! Can't work the moon without it. Hope I helped.
