Synopsis:

In the hidden Antarctic base of The Ancients, the creators of the Stargates, a new discovery reveals the Pegasus Galaxy where the lost city of Atlantis lies. A team of explorers led by Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson) embarks on a mission to investigate the city and bring back its secrets to Earth. The one drawback, however, is the team does not have enough power to return home. Believing there must be at least one planet in the Pegasus Galaxy that possesses the required technology, the crew passes through an unexplored network of Stargates in their endless quest to find a way back.

5 out of 5 stars Best Scifi out there, but remember to watch it LIVE too!   April 25, 2007

Stargate Atlantis is in my opinion, the best Scifi show out there. The look and feel of the show is amazing, and the characters have depth and appeal. Remember to watch the show LIVE in the U.S. too, that's the only way the ratings will count! Remember, we have to keep the ratings up to get the show renewed for further seasons!

Stargate Atlantis is great. I like the idea of downloading the episodes, but put in all the seasons. Why leave out season 2?

5 out of 5 stars Excellent! Simply Excellent.   December 31, 2006

This episode embodies why I love this series. The bad guy is bad - and makes appearances throughout the series.

And now, this episode offers some more understanding of the Wraith species and actually BEGS you to learn more of what initially seemed to be a barbaric bunch to kill at all costs.

Now you really don't know what to think...except that today is a day of honor.

I won't blow it for you. Watch this one FIRST if you're not sure about which episode to sample...

and savor what makes this series a landmark in sci-fi adventures.

3 out of 5 stars Fun to look at but....   November 19, 2007

This Stargate SG-1 spinoff is nice to watch if you are starved for science fiction, but some of the worst deficiencies of the television franchise are built into it and can never be gotten out of it.

It is fun to watch but the characters are simple charicatures--the sort of characters you get from writers who can't take creative chances--who lack the warmth and sophistication of characters who are genuinely loved by writers who are free to let their imaginations take them to interesting places. The hero is heroic, his huge, primative side-kick is, well, huge and primitive, while the strong and stoic warrior-woman is, quite predictably, strong and stoic, oh yeah, and she's wise, too, really, really wise. Rodney the Canadian Scientist is also nothing new in American Science-fiction writing. As a bumbling coward who is only effective as a problem-solver, you wonder how he keeps getting handed a weapon every week.

If the characters are weak, the logic that runs the plot-lines is worse. The Wraith are ridiculous as implacable enemies; they are a technologically advanced, space-faring species who can't figure out that ranching cattle (or if they really, really need to, humans) is much more efficient than hunting across star-systems and that, unlike the case with humans, it would take a herd of cows a long, long time to evolve enough for them to mount an effective resistance. Recycling the super-advanced version of the replicators hasn't improved the series any more than have plotlines designed to integrate new characters like Jewel Staite's doctor and Colonel Samantha Carter into the series.

From its inception, Stargate Atlantis has given the impression that it is a concept in search of an ideas and that its initial setup is too hidebound to find. And, if your main reasons for looking kindly on the series are not how really good or enjoyable the series is, but rather a fear that decent science-fiction would drop off the airwaves without it, then something has gone wrong.

I think this was a great spin off from stargate sg-1 which was starting to get stale even though I love watching it still.

Love being able to download them all, just wish they'd get updated quicker!
Honestly, when I left 2 weeks ago I saw the last episode available and I've missed the next 2.
