Amazon.com Sally and her brother are whisked away to the Wee-Sing Park for her birthday, where they are entertained by a marching band, meet friends, open presents--and then get soaked by the rain. The garish, poorly-lit, amateurishly shot and edited Wee-Sing productions are a compromised choice for kids, but the songs, costumes, sets, and constant action are bound to be of some interest for little ones. --Tom Keogh

A pure delight -- with some real child talent, too May 27, 2000 Doug Briggs (Houston, TX USA) 47 out of 47 found this review helpful
First, how I came to be watching this superb kid's video. I'm working on a lady's computer. In the same room is her TV, over to my left. Her 3-year-old granddaughter is watching this video, singing along, dancing, clapping, reciting the words spoken. Not a bad kid's film, thought I. It was about the third time around that I found myself getting into it and humming along. The little actress in the red party dress is wonderful as Sally. Her dancing is lively and animated, yet so natural. Her expressions are perfect, not gee-whizish when gee-whiz isn't called for. Good singing voice. She's every bit as good as Shirley Temple was at the same age -- more natural and less theatrical. The other players do their jobs, too. The marching band is good and the kids' pantomimic playing of trombones, flutes and other instruments is a nice little touch. The tight beat of the music, the sharpness of the drums, the one-voice sound of the choral singing all combine to give the music a captivating quality. Amazon.com's review wasn't quite the back of a hand, but wasn't much above it. Garish? I thought the production was colorful. Poorly lit? It sparkled for me. Amateurishly shot and edited? With more than 30 syndicated TV shows under my producer/director belt I didn't see those defects. A comprimised choice for kids? After 15 years this video is still Amazon's number 12 best-seller for kid sing-alongs, has sold in the millions of copies. The lady whose computer I was working on said this he her 3rd copy of Wee Sing Together -- wore out the other two. The slip cover was positively tattered from use. Maybe Amazon needs kid reviewers for kid material. Lacking that, old fogies like me will do. When I returned the next day with computer parts the lady thoughtfully tuned the TV to the History Channel. "Uh ... well ... Norma, do you have that Wee Sing video handy?"
If it keeps the child happy.... April 2, 2001 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Watching this video through more mature eyes (well, fourteen-year-old eyes), I see how tacky it is. But all I can say is, when I was about two years old, I was obsessed with Sally and her birthday party. My mom reminds me of how the dancing, singing, oversized bunny entertained me, but what I remember most about WeeSing Together was how much I wished I was Sally, with her red dress, ballet shoes, and curly hair. Now my two-year-old little sister is just as infatuated with the video as I was at her age.In fact, I'm on Amazon now to order a new one, because our ten-year old tape has been played so many hundreds of times that it barely works anymore! My point is, the video is tacky. We can't even watch the other WeeSing videos without retching. But there's some certain magic to this one, and besides, as my mom says, if the kid's entertained, that's all that matters. And this definitely keeps the kid entertained!
Highly recommended, just don't make me watch it. April 11, 2000 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is the most cheeseball, saccharine, out-to-recess video in my two-year-olds collection and absolutely her favorite. What song don't they sing? Eensy-weensy Spider, Old MacDonald, Loobie Loo, ABC Song, I'm a Little Tea Pot, Rain Rain Go Away, Bingo and More! You can do whatever you want for 59 glorious minutes because your child will be superglued to the tv! On the plus side, Melody the Mouse and Sally the Girl can sing and even dance. The boy however only can speak in a shouting voice. Another plus: no previews to fastforward through.(it really is a happy, dance-y show, as long as you don't have to watch it yourself.)
My two year old's favorite December 22, 2001 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My two year old daughter has watched this tape repeatedly over the last six months. She sings and dances her way through the hour-long tape - good exercise! She has taken to wearing a red dress (like Sally's) while she watches. She wants to have a birthday party just like Sally's, leaving my husband and I wondering how we are going to get a picnic table, dancing stuffed animals, and a marching band by February! Personally, I enjoy the music, and appreciate the simple messages and utter lack of violence or foul play. I highly recommend this video!!
Still remember loving this tape August 5, 1999 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This was my favorite tape when I was little. I watched it over and over until I had the entire tape memorized, except for the backward alphabet. My mom likes to comment on how it was a relief to pop this video in the VCR and know she could get some work done, because I would be glued to the TV the entire time. Then only draw back to this plan was that I insisted on a red dress, just like Sally had. Definitely recommended!
