| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com This surprisingly entertaining hour-long video takes you down "the road to a higher salary and a corner office." Translation: enthusiastic and attractive young actors humorously dramatize one man's quest for the perfect resume and cover letter. Using colorful graphics, some animation, and a twist on talking heads that employs, among other things, a young man barbecuing at the grill and a young woman in sunglasses and shorts relaxing in a lawn chair, this video takes viewers through every aspect of the resume, from content ("Don't lie") to format (chronological versus functional) to the correct font (Helvetica, Times New Roman, or Courier--who knew?). While some of the information may be obvious to many, the targeted audience--the MTV-watching, just-out-of-college set--is sure to benefit. More seasoned pros, though, are also bound to pick up a few tips. Included is a helpful booklet with a summary of the main points, a sample of each document, and a list of "action verbs." --Kimberly Heinrichs

An Excellent Introduction Into An Often Difficult Task. August 30, 2001 G W Skett (Langley, BC Canada) As a professional trainer, I'm always looking for video suppliments to my training sessions. I find the No Brainer series of videos well suited to a wide range of audiences. The humour, although corny seems to be enjoyed by young people and most of us older folks. It's light, has many excellent points and appears to be relevant for for 2001 job market, especially here in British Columbia. I would say the content is 98% relevant to what's expected here. Well worth the investment for me.
Standard Deviants: No-Brainers on Resumes and Cover Letters VHS May 28, 2007 Katherine Costa (Antioch, California United States) This was a very useful video I showed to my 9th grade Academic Success class as preparation for resume writing and cover letters. It described the different types of resumes and what needs to be included and the importance and purpose of cover letters. It is presented in a humorous but meaningful way. It is a great compliment to Standard Deviants: Interviewing Skills.
