Schwimmer presents "Six Essential Techniques:" This video is adapted from the 85-minute video "Winning Face to Face" made by International Video Network. American management consultant, Lawrence D. Schwimmer presents a two-part training video illustrating six, easily learned techniques for resolving office conflicts and coping with hostile or uncooperative staff in a professional manner. In Part I, Schwimmer describes each of the six conflict resolution techniques: I vs. you language, anticipation, meta-talk, self-interest, limit-setting, & using consequences. Professional actors dramatize conflicts and demonstrate how the six techniques can be used to defuse and redirect office conflicts. In Part II dramatic sequences demonstrate how to use all six techniques to resolve conflicts resulting from four common sources: aggressive behavior; role confusion; stereotyping; and psychological manipulation. Before Lawrence D. Schwimmer was thirty he was president of his own multi-million dollar food company. A former executive with several Fortune 500 companies, at the time of the production of this video he was president of Schwimmer & Associates, a San Francisco-based consulting firm specializing in presenting conflict resolution programs. He has authored three books on business behavior and has presented his seminars on "Risk-taking and Managing Conflict" before more than 25,000 people throughout the country, including presentations at IBM, Polaroid, and Xerox.
