Not on DVD! Excellent quality video, best episodes released to VHS. February 7, 2007 Paul J. Mular (San Carlos, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In addition to the other excellent review I wanted to add some thoughts. The picture quality is above the standard Disney VHS release, it looks quite good! Animation buffs should take notice of some cartoons presented in these shows that have not been released on DVD. This is the ONLY way to get these cartoons on home video. DONALD DUCK Cartoons not available anywhere else: 1955 BEEZY BEAR with Humphrey Bear - Humphrey tries to take honey from Donald's Beehives. (Presented in "Ducking Disaster") 1956 HOW TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AT HOME - Features a new characted named "Fate" (a short old duck in a raincoat) who tells how he keeps getting blamed by Donald for the accidents that happen at home. (Presented in "Ducking Disaster") 1959 HOW TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AT WORK - This sequel to "Home" now has "Fate" complaining about being blamed by Donald for his accidents at work. (Presented in "Ducking Disaster") 1961 THE LITTERBUG - Donald becomes the victum of his littering. This was the last official "Donald Duck Cartoon" produced. (Presented in "Goofing Around with Donald Duck") Other cartoons included in these shows have been re-issued individually on DVD. Goofy's "MOTORMANIA" & "FATHER'S DAY OFF" are on the Disney Treasures Complete Goofy DVD. Humphrey Bear's "IN THE BAG" has just been released on the Disney Treasures Rarities DVD. "CHICKEN LITTLE" has appeared on both the Disney Treasures "On The Frontlines" & "Rarities" DVDs. Footage frome some True Life Adventures and new animation with Ludwig Von Drake fill out the hours. While these cartoons are hosted by Ludwig Von Drake, the stories appear to be complete, the titles are removed and sometimes Ludwig interrupts the cartoon to make some comments. But this is the only way to see them right now, and I always liked the Ludwig Von Drake shows (it is new animation). It is also surprising to see how well "HOW TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AT HOME" & "HOW TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AT WORK" play together as one double length cartoon. It seems as if they may have started out as one long cartoon in the planning stages. "THE LITTERBUG" & "IN THE BAG" also play seemlessly back-to-back with the litter theme, even though "Bag" was produced 5 years earlier. THIS IS A MUST-HAVE FOR DISNEY ANIMATION FANS!
The Wonderful World of Disney TV April 2, 2005 microjoe This is Volume 3 in the television series of released episodes "The Wonderful World of Disney", and each video present two episodes, (better now without the commercials). Bothe were directed by Hamilton Luske. These are a nice format since they are complete with credits and the musical opeining we enjoyed as kids with all the pictures from past shows and Disneyland. The first episode is "Ducking Disaster with Donald and His Friends", was originally titled, "Man is His Own Worst Enemy", and originally aired in 1962, and again in '70 and '76. Professor Ludwig Von Drake takes a look at the worlds biggest problem - humans. It is a hilarious look at many from the problems people create for themselves, often blaming fate. It includes clips from many older animated Disney short cartoons, to show the fumbling of man. These include the "how to..." series of Goofy shorts including "Motormania". The second episode is "Goofing Around with Donald Duck" (which was originally broadcast in 1963 as "A Square Peg in a Round Hole". It was later released theatrically in the overseas market). Good old Professor Ludwig Von Drake takes us on a lesson to study human's psychological makeup, using Donald, Goofy, and Humphrey the bear as his patients. (Wait, they're not human, oh never mind) He puts Donald through a dizy series of tests to find the proper career for him. They storyline touches on obsessions and insomnia as well. The film utilizes clips from older Disney animated shorts like the Goofy short "Aquamania", and a Humphrey the Bear short, with the new material edited in between, a common practice for the television episodes. If you like the old Disney TV series that aired for over 20 years, you may like the book "Wonderful World of Disney Television", by Bill Cotter.
