Although included in her massage series, this tape by Certified Massage Therapist Michelle Kluck doesn't focus on teaching massage but rather on the ancient belief that the laying on of hands can rebalance energy flow and stimulate relaxation and recovery. While demonstrating on a female subject at a lovely outdoor spa, Kluck instructs in soothing voice-over. She explains the Indian belief of chakras, or energy centers, indicating their locations on her prone volunteer, gives cues for color visualization, and details the expected benefits for each area. While the technique is simple (and somewhat repetitive to watch for the tape's 26 minutes), the method requires a fair amount of intuition on the practitioner's part. In other words, this tape will be most useful to those who already believe in the beneficial transfer of energy. Benefits outlined include reduced heart rate and lowered blood pressure, relief from chronic fatigue, or pain, and help in the recovery of wounds or sprains. --Kimberly Heinrichs
