A good product, created from tragedy December 11, 2007 John Black (REDMOND, WA United States) I gather that Stewie the duck is based on a real life Stewie, a boy who tragically drowned. This video was created to honor his memory, and to serve as a gentle lesson for toddlers and their parents. It is brief, but very entertaining for moppets, and might even save a life. The puppets are cute, and I'm glad that I gave a copy to my grandchild.
***NOT WHAT'S ADVERTISED*** July 2, 2004 This video is 5 minutes long and still manages to be repetative in that time, even to my 4-year-old. It apparently was a promotional item at one time for the Y. I can only guess that the people who wrote great reviews were trying to sell theirs, because there is no other explanation for the great reviews - or the fact that they never mention the length of the video.Save your money.
Great idea for Water Safety! July 16, 2003 Mark Chandler (Orange County, CA.) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this video for my son and he loved it. He's 4 and it really had an effect on him. He and my 2 year-old daughter sing the Water Safety song all the time. The puppets are adorable. The video looks like a Muppet movie, it's so good. I was at the pool with our son and he told me, "Dad, I can't go near the pool without my life preserver and you to watch me". He got both of those rules from the video. I highly recommend it to parents with small children!
Unique Approach To An Old Problem July 1, 2003 Mark Chandler (Orange County, CA.) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I came across this video by accident. My 4 year old was unsure about taking swimming lessons, and I decided to buy it. I'm glad I did, the video was so cute and entertaining. My son walks around the house singing the song with the water safety rules. He loves it! He's literally seen the tape ten times in a week. It focuses on the basic rules of swimming safety and is seems to be meant as a way to keep kids from drowning. What's unique about it is that it's done with puppets! Stewie the Duck is a cute little puppet. The puppets and story work together kind of like a Muppet or Sesame Street episode. The whole thing looked great and worked wonderfully. I'd buy another is they took on other issues! Most of all, it's really fun!
