Amazon.com This total immersion approach to language means that no English is spoken on this video, and only the occasional sentence is translated onscreen. Instead, viewers are treated to five sections of objects, concepts, or actions while a woman identifies them in Spanish. The first section shows a boy (nino), various people, and animals eating (comer) and an apple (manzana) and then puts it all together (El nino come la manzana!). The same method is used for numbers, colors, manners, and phrases and then another section of familiar words and phrases. The 40-minute video comes with an introduction and the lessons spelled out in a fold-out cardboard display attached to the video box. This is a serious effort meant to teach children a second language while they are still quite young. But that won't stop children from enjoying the brightly colored video of animals, toys, and a multiracial cast of kids. Ages 1-5. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Muy Excellente! January 6, 2001 37 out of 38 found this review helpful
My babysitter(from Costa Rica) has watched this with our kids, and tells me the narrator's accent is dead-on correct! The kids love to watch it, and then test their new words out on her - so now I've been watching it, so I'm not left out! It is VERY easy to learn, and the music, video, and on-screen graphics are very high quality. I recommend this tape to anyone who wants to introduce Spanish to their child.
Highly Recomended! January 6, 2001 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
I really appreciate the fact that this video is so well thought-out. I'm learning as much as my 2 year-old is. He's learning some Spanish in daycare, and I'm amazed to hear him repeat words and phrases he learns from this video, as well! He loves every video he has from this company, and I'm glad to say this series is just as good as all the others we've bought from them. I recommend it to all my friends!
Well worth the money! October 13, 2001 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
This is my 3 year old son's favorite video. He requests "spanish" before Thomas the Tank engine. Today he asked me for a manzana (apple) for lunch! (which prompted me to write this review)The video covers numbers 1-10, colors, and some basic nouns and verbs. Basic sentences using the vocabulary words are also presented. The video is set to instrumental music, mostly classical. The video uses real children and objects as opposed to cartoons. This aspect particularly engages my child. Though this certainly won't make your child bilingual, it is a great introduction to another language. I wish the producers would do an additional spanish volume!
Great first intro for bilingual families January 31, 2002 Rita Cruz (New York, New York) 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
My daughter Teresa is 9 months old. These videos really help in the first stages of language acquisition in a bilingual home. We thank Small Fry for it, but wish that it was a little more playful, but all in all it is a great tape for spanish speaking infants. If it was a little bit more mature, I would use it in my pre-k classes, but they would think that its too baby. Using the listmanias offered from other moms, we bought a other videos, too. We thought that Brainy Baby was too much like an english version of Bilingual Baby, but Teresa likes it too. Her real favorite right now was the recommended Baby Know-It-All series from one of the Listmanias. They are very simple, but have much more spunk to them. We have two of their tapes, and Teresa likes them the best, and they are also effective with my pre-k class, especially the 2 year olds.
Outstanding and entertaining April 14, 2001 Laura Wishik (Vashon, WA USA) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
Our 20 month old twins adore this video. They clamor to watch it over and over. They have definitely learned some Spanish words from watching it. They also just enjoy seeing the children and animals in the scenes. The background music is great and makes it bearable for my husband and I to hear it over and over and over. . .
