Highly inspirational & motivational, especially forchildren July 25, 2000 David Buonerba (Buffalo, NY United States) 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
This a very interesting and clear insight into personal achievement as a true team player. This video is a wonderful gift for a child to give them inspiration and motiviation to do whatever they want to do. The narration really tells the story... "We're not special people, what we do is special." ... "If on the first try you don't succeed it's not a failure, just a set back." All of the Blue Angels are volunteers and make tremedous personal sacrifices by being "on the road" almost 200 days a year, for 2 year stint! All of the Blue Angels must agree together before any changes or decisions effecting the team are made. The Blue Angel pilots are the only pilots who do not perform a pre-flight inspection of their airplanes before flying, a very necessary and critical task for all pilots... the Blue's jump in and go, they have total trust in their airplane captains and ground crews, the absolute epitomy of team-work. An absolutely wonderful message for everyone, especially for those youngsters in your life.
Mediocre at Best... June 18, 2005 Patrick (Connecticut, USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I guess I should have realized by some of the other reviews that this DVD would be geared toward a younger audience (and by younger I mean 10 or under), but I thought I would be getting more footage of aerial maneuveurs than this DVD provided. The cinematography is on par with that of a slightly above-average TV show documentary. "Documentary" would be an an accurate word to describe this DVD - it is much more about the preparation and work it takes to put on a Blue Angels air show than it is about the Blue Angels aerial acrobatics. So if you're like me and looking an expertly filmed documentary of what a Blue Angels air show looks like, look elsewhere.
Disappointed Mom January 20, 2006 Mom of Three (California, USA) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
My son LOVES airplanes and jets! I bought this DVD based on the rave reviews of people with young children loving this video. If you want a DVD that shows airplanes/jets flying, DO NOT BUY THIS DVD! The name of the video should be, "Watch the Blue Angles Get Ready to Fly," because that is what this video is. In the first 20 minutes there are short scenes of the jets flying. Then the next 25 minutes is NO FLYING just talking and showing the Blue Angles getting ready for their show. In the last 8 minutes you get to see part of an air show. My son has never made it to that point. He wants to see airplanes/jets fly and I'm now on a new search for a DVD that will do this for him.
wonderful for both children and adults May 30, 2003 susan todd (abingdon, md United States) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
My 3 year old son loved this movie. He sat in front of the tv with his model blue angel and mimicked every move the planes made in the video. It was fun to watch my son and husband watch this video together, they both had big smiles on their faces. The pilots in this video send a wonderful message to young children with dreams. My 3 year old says "when I get big I am going to fly blue angel #5". I highly reccomend this video.

A very entertaining blend of flying fast and behind the scenes footage. The adolescent character, who also narrates, brings the whole thing on a kid level making the show enjoyable for both kids and adults. The pilots and crew of the Blue Angles have a strong role model presence as well as demonstrating the pros of being in the Navy.
