Amazon.com Bill Cosby's animated young doppelganger visits the zoo, the pet store, and the responsibilities of pet care in this animal-centric installment of Cosby's gentle instructional series. In the first episode, Little Bill is impatient to see his favorite animals, the elephants, on his class trip, but he must learn patience since they are the last stop at the zoo. Inspired by his trip, in the second episode Little Bill gets permission from his parents to buy a pet but scales down his wishes from elephant to hamster. In the final two episodes, the class rabbit has bunnies, which class members seek homes for, eventually coming full circle to find a place for them at the zoo's petting area. With the stellar voice talent of Ruby Dee, Gregory Hines, Phylicia Rashad, and Doug E. Doug, this classy series (seen on Nick Jr.) makes race irrelevant through its universal stories. Ages 3-7. --Kimberly Heinrichs

'Toon that treats preschoolers with respect! December 24, 2003 Reginald D. Garrard (Camilla, GA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I can't imagine what the other "reviewers" have been watching. This video-length compilation from the Nick Jr. show is outstanding in its simple storytelling of the wonder and magic of childhood. Little Bill (voiced by Xavier Pritchard) is an engaging little tyke with an infectiously genuine giggle. His pet hamster, Elephant, is his confident and privy to the boy's whimsical "flights of fantasy". The boy's vivid imagination helps to promote the like in the show's young audience. Bill's efforts to find a solution to his "wabbit" problem are certainly not boring and the story is perfect for the young set. In a world where violent, action-ridden animation seems to be the rule, it is gratifying to find a series that uses simplicity to deliver its message. My niece and nephew are big fans of Little Bill and so is their uncle!
More wonderful stories... November 13, 2003 Keli Fields (Country Club Hills, IL United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
There's nothing I remember more about grammar school than the great field trips we took to the zoo! Little Bill and his classmates go on their own field trip, and in the process the little guy learns about patience. Then he gets a pet, which begins the process of teaching responsibility. His class then learns about concern for others (in this case, animals) by finding a home for the class pets.I saw each of these episodes on television, and was extremely excited to see that they were available to buy! They are fun, interesting, and are all in all great additions to the collection of Little Bill tapes, toys and books that I own. The lessons my daughter will learn from these stories will be invaluable.
I'm sending Little Bill to boot camp! April 12, 2003 1 out of 16 found this review helpful
This is soooo !dumb! A boy that always says "Hello Friend". If I hear that one more time my head will explode! I mean let's face it I'm a fan of Bill Cosby but this is not one of my favorites. Better luck next time Bill!
Not what I expected August 16, 2003 Carla M. Smith (Avon, IN United States) 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
My daughter and I are big fans of the TV show, however, this particular video is so BORING! It started good, but just dragged and didn't get better. I did not like the fact that in the 3rd cartoon, they had a pet rabbit in their classroom named "Wabbit". Some children really do pronounce "r" words with a "W" sound, so it doesn't help when you are trying to teach a child how to say something properly when the whole time the TV is saying "Wabbit"
