Good, quick workout December 9, 2004 madaboutphil (CentralOhiO) 139 out of 139 found this review helpful
This is my first Tamilee Webb DVD, and I have to say, I really like this one. I have Denise Austin and the Crunch Pilates DVDs that I love and use regularly, but this one I'm sure to use daily. It's just so easy, and Tamilee is encouraging without being annoying, which I can't stand. The DVD itself is very barebones, just Tamilee on a set with a mat, some weights, and some plants on the background. There's not jumping around, and all you need are a mat, or your carpet, and some 2, 5, or 10 pound weights. I'd guess that if you're a beginner, you could do this DVD for a long time, and if you're more advanced you'll get plenty of use by increasing the amount of weight you use. Tamilee gives excellent instruction, and is very careful to educate you on proper form and the muscles being used. There's little room for boredom because once you begin to get used to one exercise Tamilee moves on to the next. I'd recommend this video, esp. for those who bore easily, and want to tone up without hours lifting everyday. I do three segments, but you can easily do more or less depending on your schedule.
The Best Tamilee Workout Yet! July 2, 2004 121 out of 124 found this review helpful
This is my favorite workout!!! I am amazed that a 15 minute workout can sculpt my muscles like this one does. The abs and arms workout focus mostly on the arms so if you are trying for six pack abs you'll have to do all three workout in one session. I love the fact that Tamilee concentrates on building arms in this video. I have my grandmother's big arms and this video has sculpted my arms into a much more desirable shape! The abs portion of the workout is good and has definitely shaped my upper abs but I really love it for the arm workouts. The lower body workouts are great too! This is the first workout video that I've viewed in a while that works the inner and outer thighs. I like the fact that there are sliding lunges because it is a little easier on my knees. All in all this video is great for the body and it only take 15 minutes a day!
A little embarrassed to admit, but... July 22, 2006 Susan Doran (Portland, ME United States) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I bought this DVD. I'm usually a yoga/Pilates/gym sort of person, and never imagined doing a home workout video. Especially one that's Fill-in-the-Blank "...of Steel." Especially led by someone with biggish hair named "Tamilee." I know it, I've been a snob. But then I saw "Quick Toning: Abs, Arms & Lower Body of Steel" in a $1 bin, and thought: what the heck? It's consists of 6 15-minute workouts that cover abs, arms, glutes, and all parts of the legs. Some reviewers here have sort of slammed it, but I think it's really quite good! As it turns out, I truly like Tammilee! She is encouraging in a gentle way, and not manic or overly in-your-face. She has a nice voice (and her hair isn't even that high!). She provides variations on most movements, according to your strength- and fitness-level, and moves along at a good pace--not too fast, not too slow--and helps you set realistic expectations for yourself. The workouts are bite-sized, so you can do 1, or 3, or 6, or whatever you want. You will benefit whatever you choose. I found the length of the repetitions to be just right--so you do an exercise and move onto something else, providing variety, but not gallopping along so fast you feel lost. Now maybe I liked it as much as I did because I've never done an at-home exercise video before, but there you have it. In my opinion, it provides a genuinely solid workout! It may be too easy for some people, given what some of the reviews say, but I'm already in good shape and it still provides challenge--and is just SO easy to pop into the DVD player and do a couple of quick routines! Full disclosure: on one exercise I started out doing more than I should have, and had to ratchet back to one of the easier modification she recommends. I was impressed! If we could give half-stars I'd give it ***1/2, but since we can't I'm rounding up to 4.
Really like it December 13, 2005 LPrene (Illinois) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
This DVD has two parts broken down into three workouts each. Each individual workout has warm-up, stretch, exercise, and stretch. If you don't have a lot of time, or are not very motivated, a 15 min segment would probably fit your needs well. I combined the three arms and ab segments into a single workout and the three lower body into a single work out. I added ankle weights to the lower body segments. I got a GREAT workout and post-workout burn. Tamilee is a great motivator and she explains things VERY well.
Poor value even though I love TamiLee September 21, 2005 L. Anfang 14 out of 20 found this review helpful
This item was a big disappointment and a waste of money for me. I love TamiLee and her Arms and Abs video from a few years ago. That's why I was excited to see what I thought was a newer production of Arms and Abs workouts. The cover was different than the video and there was no reference to the older video in the description, so I thought the DVD contained all new workouts. The 3 Arms and Abs workouts were exactly the same as the old video, so did me no good. I didn't buy the DVD for the lower body workouts, but viewed them just to see what they were. Two out of three are somehow cued incorrectly from the DVD menu, meaning you select workout 2, for example, and the DVD takes you to the cool down session from workout number 1! Because sequential workout video tapes are still easier to use for home-exercisers than DVDs since you don't have to remember which workout you are on - you just stop the tape one day and restart the tape another day - this DVD is just a back-up for the tape I already use.
