5 out of 5 stars FIRST IMPRESSIONS - EXCELLENT SET   September 22, 2002

I would absolutely recommend purchasing the entire set. The videos keep my son entertained for many hours. It's better than hearing him cry. He began watching videos when he was 1 month. Be patient. Infants have a short attention span. If you consistently show the videos everyday your child will learn before you even notice it. My son is 18 months old now. He knows many letters now. He doesn't sing ABC like a parrot........if you point to a letter he is able to identify it. He knows A B C D E F G H ...J K... O P Q R....T.....X Y.
At this age he recognizes capital letters only. Still very impressive for 18 months. Your child is capable of this also.

1 out of 5 stars A Good JOB!   August 29, 2002

I bought my first VCD of Baby's First Impression on ANIMALS. And I found it very satisfying because my one year plus daughter seems to enjoy it very much. She can watch it with full concentration and enjoying it from the beginning till the end. That really surprises me because this is the only one which will make her do so. I've bought lots of others VCDs of other versions (a waste of money) but they appear too long winded or boring. My daughter would watch this ANIMALS everyday without getting bored.
And I think it's not because of the animals that she loved to watch but it's the way the whole thing is presented. That is VERY important! And I would say you've done a good job.
Congratulations!
But the sad thing is, it's really hard to buy your tapes here in Brunei or in Miri(Malaysia). I've searched everywhere(almost in every CD shops) for the other titles in this series but dissapointedly, it's either out of stock or they never heard.
So I hope you could do something to promote your tapes here.
Good luck! Keep it up!!

3 out of 5 stars Not the greatest for teaching the letters but not the worst   April 28, 2005

This video shows lots of live-action, no still photos. It begins with kids playing at a playground and then they hold up foam letter pieces and say the letter name. After the playground they go through each letter. Here's an example of what they say for the letter D:

"D" (they show the upper and lower case and say the letter name)
"D, Ducks"
"D" (showing upper and lower)
"D, Daddy"
"D" (showing upper and lower)
"D, Dog"
"D" (showing upper and lower)

After evey 6 letters or so they do a review. The only thing that could be improved upon is that they could have said the sound of each letter too. But, Baby's First Impressions is now Brainy Baby and they have a "Brainy Baby ABC's" video. This has much of the same footage of Baby's First Impressions Letters but they do say the sounds of each letter, they also say "big D, little d" (instead of just showing the upper and lower case) and they say both sounds for the vowels and for the letters C and G. But, I have *major* issues with Brainy Baby ABC's because they are not consistent in their sounds and they add the sloppy "uh" sound to many of them. Frankly, Brainy Baby should be ashamed by their ABC video. Please read my review for that video and you'll read more about it. Because of this I'd have to recommend Baby's First Impressions over Brainy Baby ABC's.

5 out of 5 stars The best gift ever   September 1, 2002
We received this video, along with Numbers and Shapes, when my son was 6 months old. I don't know what kind of magic the Baby's First Impressions folks are conjuring in their production studio, but my son is glued to the TV for 32 straight minutes while this video plays. And the video doesn't seem to get old for him, because at 18 months it's still one of his favorites. He was able to say the whole alphabet, recognize individual letters, and say things like "C...cat!" when he was 14 months old, and my husband and I swear that this video (and my son's pal Elmo on Sesame Street) did far more teaching than we did. I now include this video (along with Numbers) with all of my "new baby gifts" for friends.

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
