mama flora's family April 17, 2002 21 out of 26 found this review helpful
Mama Flora's Family is a really good movie Erika Alexanders character get'spregnant by Shemar Moore's character who like to sleep with women and leaves them. After she has the baby he keeps the baby since he is the slave owners son, she has no choice but to stay out of his life. So she goes on with her life and has more kids and not a day goes by that she doesn't think about the son she left behind. But the ending is really good. It has a very happy ending. All the actors were really good, especially Cicely Tyson, Erika Alexander, Shemar Moore, and Queen Latifah to name a few. well thanks for taking the time to read this review. jtk504
Phenomenal October 3, 2004 Shamontiel L. Vaughn (Chicago) 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
This movie was phenomenal. Originally I rented it because I wanted to see all the movies that my favorite actress, Erika Alexander, had been in after I saw her in 30 to Life, along with the usual t.v. shows, etc. I had no idea what this movie was about but I was glued to my television the entire time and ended up returning the movie on the very last day it was due, and I'm so quick to return movies the next day. I bought the movie the next day! I don't understand why the pigeon/birthday scene was repeated twice, but other than that, I loved this movie!
Excellent!! January 11, 2004 Doug G. Duncan (San Angelo) 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
The best drama of black American history ever!! It is about a black woman named Flora and about her troubled relationship with her family from 1895-1970. Flora and her family face life in the Jim Crow South, WWII, Civil Rights, Vietnam, and Black Panther eras. I personally was interested with Flora's mixed relationship with the white family who employs her. Mama Flora's Family promotes the important values of family and personal responsibility, which anyone can learn from. A must see!!
Information about Syndicated Mama's Family On TBS March 30, 2005 13 out of 27 found this review helpful
Mama's Family, orginally aired on NBC, now being syndicated has a total of 130 episodes and a total of 6 seasons. Mama Flora's Family has nothing to do with syndicated Mama's Family on TBS. Find this information with the following site: www.tvtome.com In the search, type: Mama's Family It comes up and gives you a page about the show and a list of crew and cast of Mama's Family. (Aired 1983-1990) There is one episode that has dangerous weather, "An Ill Wind" the clan gets trapped in their shelter, the basment, Vinton Harper and Naomi Harper's bedroom. If the house would have caved in, then the only room would be Naomi and Vint's bedroom, the ugly room, also known as the basement.
Mama Flora's Family January 22, 2002 Mike Hatfield (Marion, Michigan United States) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have viewed many movies, Mama Flora's Family is truly one of the best I've seen in a long time. The movie displayed emotions that seem to have been forgotten in most families. Flora had a mission and set out to put her family where they needed to be no matter the cost. The Writer had to have been deeply inspired to write sure a epic movie. Thank You for presenting such a classic for good CLEAN Family Viewing.
