3 1/2 stars for a good, fun game. November 6, 2003 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Pros: The advanced cover system is a great addition to shooter games.Nice array of weapons. (Some have a faster rate of fire, some more accurate at long distance, etc.) AI is good as enemies work well together to try to flank, overrun, and surround you. (Watch out for snipers) The actual combat is well done. Bullets and explosives are at a premium so, you can't just blast everything endlessly. Enemies take wounds "realistically". (i.e. limp, crawl, hop on one foot, panic, etc.) The graphics during combat aren't as sharp as some games but, the attention to detail is good though. Rocks fly and walls chip. You see tracers occasionally and bullets can richochet off metal at times and hit you even while covered. Even normal mode is tough and challenging. Nothing is just a walk through. Cons: While the cover system is great, occasionally you have trouble aiming at enemies and have to readjust to hit what should have been an easy target. To activate the sniper system you have to click the right thumb stick and this can be a pain as you have to hit the thumbstick just right. Then, when your shooting in 3rd person you sometimes move the thumbstick just right and here comes the sniper mode. You can recover from this pretty fast or just shoot in sniper mode but, they should have just made the select button the on/off. Maybe I'm missing something but, I've yet to be able to play my own downloaded music in the background rather than the games'. This is a mainstay with XBOX. Overall this is a pretty good, straight forward game that I would like to see others learn from and improve upon.
May be to hard for some October 31, 2003 Cedd Dogg (stockton, ca. United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This game is by far one of the most difficult games I have played since stuntman for ps2.If you like trying to get through a level about a thousand times then you might like this one. There is nothing really special about this game except the cover system, weak graphics and extreme difficulty prevent this one from being a five star game.
Fast paced, hard fighting Third Person Shooter! January 4, 2004 Jasyn A. Rigdon (Stafford, VA) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Think up a cross between Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher and the aggressive firefights of Conflict: Desert Storm and what you would get is Kill.Switch! I'll be perfectly honest, this is not a game that I would be quick to drop fifty bucks on, but is an excellent rental or one to scoop up at the thirty-five or lower price range. Those who appreciate a good shooter will love this one! Gameplay is very realistic and difficult, sound and graphics are great! This is how video game combat should be, grenade a room with a frag or flash bang then come in spraying! I have found the enemy A.I. to be very challenging, attacks are very coordinated using covering fire and flanking movements. Another big plus this games got going for it is the re-use of enemy rifles (I hate it when you can't pick up the guy's gear that you just shot). Character movement is the only real problem I have with this game. The character looks great and can combat roll but looks sluggish when running, but when this is the only problem you've got an awesome shooter! You'll love it when you're running for you life from the first attack helicopter you encounter! I have never been required to use the environment so much to stay alive, it's an awesome game element and I'm shocked that no one has done this before; thumbs up to you Namco!
Lots of fun, been playing it non-stop December 1, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Rented this game over the Thanksgiving holiday and have been playing it non-stop for several days. In a word; GREAT! Love it. If you like First Person Shooters (FPS) then you will like this game. The ability to crouch down behind boxes and walls while you lean out into a corridor will leave you wondering why it took so long for somebody to think of this feature. No more standing out in the corridor getting shot, no sirreeee. Just stand up against the corner, hold the left trigger, lean out and around the corner and engage enemy. This feature does not make you invincible, but does cut down your profile, and hence risk of getting shot. I hope other games in the future will make use of this feature. Sometimes aiming in crouch mode is difficult as noted in other reviews. There are medi-pacs available to restore health, but there are well spaced out and you will soon learn to `hoard' them if you-don't-absolutely-need-one-now. Same thing goes with ammo. If you are heavy on the trigger finger then you will soon find yourself running low on bullets, and this will entail you running around the way you came looking for more dropped ammo. The controls are pretty easy to use and are very Halo-like in layout.
Finally a Really Fun Game For XBOX November 15, 2003 Bryan (NY) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Finally a Really Fun game has made its way to xbox. Here are a few pros and cons...Pro's ~Fun game that will have you in action from start to finish. ~Great how you can hide behind a wall and heve the option to blind fire. ~Good graphics and cool how the glass breaks. ~Wide selection of weapons, as well as you can pick up enemy weapons. Con's ~I do not like how he run's, his feet move to fast. ~You can't hold medi-kits, if you are in need of health you need to find a midi-kit. That's about it, I'm sure I could find alot more good things about it but I just got it and I'm going to play it now... But as you can see there are more pro's than con's... so got check this game out!
