1 out of 5 stars Worst game made for DS.... so far   July 15, 2007

Mindless and repetitive, this is the perfect example of phoning-in a block buster movie video game tie in. They don't even manage to translate the voice bubble dialog into English correctly.

A major on-line computer gaming site gives this game one-half of one star out of five and says it's better as a prop for your window than it is a game.

If you want a good film-to-game comic adventure get Spiderman III for the DS instead.

2 out of 5 stars About what you'd expect   July 1, 2007

With Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer tearing up theaters, the consoles received a movie based video game tie-in that, well to put it lightly, was terrible. The DS isn't spared either as the FF make their first appearance on Nintendo's dual screened handheld. You play as a different member of the FF as each level changes, which supposedly take advantage of the character's powers. When you get right down to it though, all the elements are alike, and what you get instead is a shoddy platformer at best. The Human Torch's levels offer a shooter style experience, which is undoubtedly the best aspect of this cruddy game, and that in itself doesn't last long in terms of fun. The game itself looks like it was in the middle of being designed for the GBA and then slightly overhauled, with stiff sprites and buggy animations. The touch screen controls, few as they are, are only basic at best, and quickly go to annoying when featured in boss battles. The only real upside to Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is that there are some unlockables in the form of comic book covers, but that's it. Yeah, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is about what you'd expect from a quickly assembled, licensed movie/comic video game tie-in, and that would be far from being anything remotely good. All in all, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Sivler Surfer may be worth a short look for fans of the characters, the comics, or the films; but all others should leave this on the shelf.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad if you like F4   June 19, 2007

Not the best DS game, but if you like F4 it's pretty fun. I'd probably recommend the Wii/PS2 version as better games though.
