4 out of 5 stars Solid collection of mini-games   July 3, 2007

Touchmaster for the DS does just what it's title implies; it's a collection of various mini-games that take advantage of the touch screen and stylus, and are incredibly simple to get a hang of. Touchmaster features 23 mini-games involving cards, trivia, and puzzlers to boot, including takes of Yahtzee, solitare, mahjong, and more. While the games are fun, simple to pick up and play, and all take advantage of the DS' unique capabilities, there ultimately isn't enough here to hold your long term interests. Nintendo's own Clubhouse Games is a much better investment than Touchmaster, and features a wider variety of games to pick and are more fun as well. That aside, there's nothing really bad about Touchmaster at all. The game offers Wi-Fi support as well for posting high scores, which is a nice small bonus hampered by a sloppy interface. All in all, Touchmaster is a fine, quick collection of mini-games that take advantage of the DS' capabilities, and is a fine pick up if that's what you want, but if you desire something like this only put together a little better, check out Clubhouse Games instead.

4 out of 5 stars Mini-Game Arcade Excitement   June 25, 2007
Michael Kerner (Brooklyn, New York U.S.A.)

With the past few years, mini-games have been very popular for the Nintendo systems like the recently-departed Gamecube, the Wii and the Nintendo DS. While games like Mario Party and Wario Ware have maintained their success from Nintendo, there have been some great surprises that have also hit the nail on the head. Games like Brain Age, and Clubhouse Games really surprised DS owners young and old. Midway has also know that feeling in the arcades. With their Touchmaster arcade franchise, it really hit the nail on the head, and how game you played those games, that have also brought out what the Nintendo DS has made in great games. Now, this great series finally makes it to the Nintendo DS, but does it click like it did before?

Touchmaster for the Nintendo DS, takes on what gamers of all ages, by bringing out over twenty great games that've been fun and enjoyable from the great series. The games are fun and enjoyable, as a great delight that spins quite nicely as a compliment from other Nintendo DS mini game compilations. The collection includes great games that really are simple and fun reflecting puzzle games like Mahki, a spinoff from the Super Collapse internet games, the traditional word search, 5 star general, where you roll 5 dice bocks and try to match your way hands like a full house or a straight, and 5 of a kind as fast as you can, but only used once inorder to score points. There also are great card games like 3 peak deluxe, a high-low game where you have to eliminate cards from your peaks to score points, and double take where you have to elimate a group of cards that are either a pair, or in consecutive order in two's like 7 and then 8. The graphics and the gameplay are simple & just as delightful as you've played from the arcade series. The game also works great with Nintendo's WI-FI connection too, where you can try to score your best score possible against others online, and through Midway's Tournament Network.

All in all, Touchmaster is a great buy for anyone who owns the Nintendo DS. I loved playing these games in my local pool hall, and they still are just as fun & exciting as they were developed years ago. If you've played Clubhouse Games, you'll definitely want to give Touchmaster a try. It really is fun & brings great variety to gamers everywhere. Touch and go on with the fun.

1 out of 5 stars Problems with the game   November 13, 2007

We had problems with this game, thought it was the game but after returning it 4 times and everytime the same thing happened. It wasnt our DS system because we have 4 different ones (different in days owned).

When play the trivia game, which we played a lot. I would say after playing it 30 times, we would be in the middle of a game and it would lock up and the only the you could do is turn it off. This game was fun but this was our only issue. We called the company that made it in Chicago and they took all the information and told us this (trivia) was the only game that had to be re-written for the DS. SO FYI.... this game locks up on trivia.

5 out of 5 stars A Cure for Boredom on Your Nintendo DS!!!   November 1, 2007

This is the perfect game for a portable system; it has 23 games that you can pick up and play anytime. You can play for just a few minutes or several hours. You decide.

There are tons of card games and puzzle games. And even a cool little basketball game that requires quick reflexes with the stylus pen. There is a game for everyone.

If you have played the "Touchmaster" bar top games at your local restaurant, bowling ally or watering hole than you know what I mean when I say these games are addictive!!!

Midway was doing touch screen games many years before Nintendo did. Perhaps, the "Touchmaster" arcade series was the inspiration behind their cutting-edge portable the Nintendo DS.

There have been dozens of these games made since the 1990s. Some of its most popular games are on here.

For a special treat, type "Subzero" on the high score screen and hear what happens.

Anyways, this game gets my vote for sleeper-hit of the year for 2007.

I have a sneaky suspicion that this game will be a surprise seller for this holiday season and a 2nd collection of "Touchmaster" favorites will eventually come out for the DS, in the near future! I'm crossing my fingers that "Photo Hunt" and "Monster Madness" from their competition "Megatouch" will be included on the sequel...

5 out of 5 stars All I need is a cold one   January 6, 2008

This was always a good way to kill time when hanging out at the local watering hole. When you run out of stuff to talk about with your buddies, each person pitches in a buck or two and then go to town on Touchmaster. Now I can play for free. Free is very good. These are all pretty addictive games that you can play for hours, and I know I have since I bought the game.
As far as the Trivia game acting up as some of the others have stated, I don't know. I haven't played it a bunch of times yet. I've always been more of a Mahki fan. However, if it does act up for me I will put an update on here to let people know it's still happening.
All in all, if you enjoyed this game in your local establishment of choice, you'll need to pick this up.

***UPDATE*** As of 2/15/08, the Trivia game has locked up on me all of 1 time. Not sure if it has anything to do with it, but it was a 26,000 point question. So far though, it was the only time it locked up.
