Lewis's "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," the Kings and Queens of Narnia go back only to find that more than 1300 years have passed in the magical land. The Golden Age of Narnia has become extinct, Narnia has been conquered by the Telmarines and is now under the control of the evil King Miraz, who rules the land without mercy. 5 out of 5 stars Enjoyable action adventure game.   June 1, 2008

Our family enjoys the Prince Caspian game for DS. It's a fun action adventure game that is appropriate for most ages (recommended for those over 5 and have basic reading skills).

The game pretty much follows the story based on the film, and starts with Caspian fleeing the castle with the aide of his tutor, Dr. Cornelius. It then moves on to Cair Paravel, where Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy wander the woods in search and as they battle various creatures. The gameplay then follows the general plot as it is in the movie, as the characters are introduced to new locations, scenes, enemies and characters.

The character(s) you play as depends on where you are in the stage of the game. For instance, in the beginning you play as Caspian, then you move on to the Pevensies, and so on. When the Pevensies are together, you can pick a main character to play and you can generally have up to 3 of the kids band together to find enemies.

Generally, there is a short tutorial as each type of fighting skill is introduced and almost always involves the use of the stylus (i.e. how Edmund and Caspian fight with their swords, how Peter fights with this sword, and how Susan fights with her bow and arrow). Unlike the previous Narnia and LOTR games (for GBA), the fighting is turn based so that the good guys and bad guys each have a turn, and the damage you inflict (and the points that you gain) is generally based on how quick you are with the stylus (each character has their own fighting style). Sometimes, 2 or 3 characters can fight more than 1 enemy at a time. I must say the graphics and environments are very good, and the characters in this game closely resemble the actors in the film. Like most adventure games (like LOTR and the early Narnia games), you can collect items, build your strength based on 'experience' points and find various types of objects (potions, food, treasures) around Narnia.

My family enjoyed the previous Narnia (Lion, Witch and Wardrobe) games as well as the LOTR and Harry Potter movie-based games for GBA and DS, and this game is very similar to those. We are still playing it so how it ends still remains to be seen. So far though, we are enjoying "Prince Caspian" and it has held my kids' (aged 7 and 10) and my interest. We definitely recommend this game to fans of the Narnia movies and those who enjoy good action-adventure, family-oriented games.

5 out of 5 stars Great game and brings the movie to life.   June 1, 2008

My family and I really enjoy this game based on the movie "Prince Caspian." We love action adventure type games like the Lion, Witch and Wardrobe, Legends of Zelda, LOTR and Harry Potter so this one is a perfect addition to our GBA/DS game collection.

The game pretty much follows the storyline of the movie. Prince Caspian is introduced, then we move on to the Pevensies, and then back and forth between these characters as they fight new foes, meet new characters and visit new locations. If you've seen the movie or read the books, then you will know how the general game plot goes. The fighting depends on which character(s) you are fighting with. For example. Peter, Edmund and Caspian fight with swords (which involve you rubbing the stylus back and forth in the screen); and Susan fights with a bow and arrow (which involves you trying to push back on the arrow with the stylus and making sure that you hit the mark). The movements and fighting involves the stylus and there is some reading required as you move from stage to stage in the storyline. You also get to collect things like food, 'equipment' and treasures that you can store in your 'inventory.' While you can only play with one character at a time, you can have up to 3 characters help you out as you fight enemies (which can be 2-3 at a time).

We're really enjoying this game. We're huge Narnia and fantasy movie fans, so this game is a perfect addition to our movie/book/game collections. I highly recommend this to all Narnia and video game fans out there.

2 out of 5 stars Fun, but very easy   May 27, 2008

In this game you switch between characters. Some areas you have to be Caspian or his 'people.' or the Pevensies and the dwarf.
You start out as Caspian. Cornelius just finished telling Caspian about the ending of the 100 year winter. He tells Caspian that he has to practice his sword skills. This is where you learn how to use a sword, which is very useful. The sword trainer tells you to go to your room and get some rest. In the middle of the night Cornelius wakes Caspian and tells him that the Queen just had a son and Miraz is going to kill him.
Caspian flees into the woods. Cornelius gave him Queen Susan's horn, and told him that it would bring back the kings and queens of old Narnia. But he can only blow it when he's in real danger. He blows it and Susan, Edmund, Lucy, and 'King Peter the Magnificent' come back to Cair Parevell, except it's in ruins.
This game follows the book, and has scenes (in the form of a book) from the movie (i'm basing this off of things I've read about the movie, for I haven't seen it, yet)

Like I said before this game is fun but it's VERY EASY to defeat, (and I'm a girl who isn't good at video games)

I wouldn't reccomend anyone to buy this game, but instead rent it from Blockbuster or from a friend, if you really want to play it.

*Pros*
background graphics are great
the sound and music are great
I like that it ties in with the book and movie

*cons*
people and animal graphics are bad
the 2-D portrait paintings make Edmund, Susan, and especially Peter look really old and not what they look like in the movies.
I think it's annoying how Peter always has to 'brag' that he was the high king of narnia and is King Peter the Magnificent. And how Caspian keeps saying that he's Prince Caspian the 10th(It doesn't say anyone else's full name i.e. Lucy the Vallant)

(note) if you haven't seen the movie the game does give a little bit of what happens the movie, but not too much.
I hope this helps.
