GRID? Is all about the race- that period from lights to flag; full of tension, pressure, noise, and action.
GRID will take players to beautifully realised and dramatic race locations over three continents to compete in an unprecedented variety of racing events. Packed with the most powerful race cars – new and classic, circuit and drift – players will compete to conquer the most prestigious official race tracks and championships and then go beyond to compete in challenging city-based competitions, through to road events and urban street races.
In Europe, race gamers will compete on the greatest official tracks in prestige Marques including Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pagani. Iconic cities across the U.S. – including San Francisco, Washington DC and Detroit and each with their own atmosphere and events – play hosts to diverse street races. Here, high-performance V8 muscle cars set the pace in aggressive closely fought pack competitions. In the Far East, Japanese racing culture sets the tone where night races, including Drift racing, take drivers through neon illuminated cities and to outlying mountain roads. There is also the opportunity to compete in races that operate on the fringes of legality in the back streets and industrial areas of Yokohama. | Key Features

Buyer Beware June 10, 2008 A. Ryan (nc) 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
First off, I love racing games. I have been anticipating this game as soon as I heard a mere mention of the game, GRID. The game hails from the makers of DIRT. How more great can it get? Pros: Great Visuals. Not {Jaw Dropping} like I thought would be. Nice Interface/Menu System Great number of tracks/locations Great number of cars Cons: You slip and slide so much that you almost want to throw your controller at the TV.The cars seem to have not enough traction. AARRG! A mere "bump" from another car and your sliding into a 360 surrounded by smoke and dust from the track. UUUGH. Meanwhile, the rest of the other cars race along out of sight. You will experience 1-3 second freezes during the race. Have you ever played a complex game on a laptop and the laptop wasn't powerful enough to give you a {smooth} gaming experience? Well, this is what happens during your races. It so slight, but it's consistent, like 2-4 freezes per race. (Maybe they are working on a patch update) While driving, your crew chief is constantly in your ear about someone crashing or wiping out ahead of you or behind you. (this is a personal issue with me, I would like to have had the option to turn him off) I am really dissapointed. This game is a total let-down. Save your money and rent first as I wish I had
Hayai DA YO!! June 5, 2008 Oh Leo 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This game is wild. The best realistic/non-realistic racer on the market. Grid is one of the only games were you can actually FEEL the speed. Graphics are tight, gameplay is sick, and all the different races....sponsors.....and teams make you feel like you really are apart of it. I suggest Grid for all racing fans, because this game is INTENSE- and it will have you on the edge of your seat!
Flawed? June 6, 2008 G. S. Bell (Warsaw, IN USA) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Or, maybe I just have a bum copy. I purchased this yesterday and played several hours over the course of the day and evening. The other two reviews thus far have been spot-on, so I'm not disputing that. The only issue I have (and like I said it may just be a fluke) is that of frame-rate issues. I mean, REAL HUGE frame-rate glitches! Almost like the console is about to lock-up, or the game is about to freeze. After a second, sometimes two, the action resumes where it left off, almost like I paused the game! I've noticed this only to happen just before a collision of some sort (either myself or AI). Has anybody else experienced this? Other than the frame-rate issue, I absolutely love this game and would have given 5 stars easily. Don't love it quite as much as Forza 2 (yet) but the game is definitely swaying me in that direction.
Way overhyped June 20, 2008 J. Young (Vancouver, WA) 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
I highly recommend that you try before you buy this game. I picked up a copy the day it came out. Played it for 3 straight days and the experience was rather ho-hum. It's positive attributes first. PROS: It has a full cockpit view (something Forza Motorsport 2 lacks) CONS: Crashes in this game were supposedly "revolutionary." See one crash in this game the excitement is gone. There's nothing revolutionary about them. Virtually no customization of cars. You can achieve a few measly upgrades and that's all. The graphics in this game looked phenomenal in the screenshots. Personal experience however was very disappointing. My biggest gripe, multiplayer. Online play is boring. Little user community. Hard to find rooms to play in that are racing the type of race you want. I would recommend that your rent this game from the video/game store before you decide to plunk down any money. I ended up trading my copy in.
Very Disappointed... July 6, 2008 Doombious (oHIo) 2 out of 15 found this review helpful
I am so mad I traded in about ten games and paid $[...] for this game. I was so excited to go home and play it and immediately I was crushed. I have played and won most all of the racing games NFS's, PGR's, World Racing's, rallies, Midnight Clubs, Forzas, etc. Never had a problem.... This game would have been great if one could actually handle the cars. Maybe this is for Pros only. I put the difficulty level on basic and I can still barely win a race. Go off the road a little bit and it is pretty much an automatic 360 spin out. Then you have the annoyance of being told that your car damage is only minor and in fact for example you cannot even steer your car. Other times being told a driver had blown an engine and then a few minutes later this same driver spins out. How is he still driving? Then says a certain driver is in first place and he is not even close to it. So I turned his sound off. When changing paint colors in the garage the door is open and there is a glare so you can't tell really good how well your car will look. Stupid. I have yet to see much variety in the courses unless they are on the higher up levels of racing. I have to admit the game looks nice but I wouldn't waste money on this one...wait to get it in the bargain bins.
