5 out of 5 stars Action Replay VS. Gameshark   August 1, 2003

This is a good Buy if you get stuck in games, or just to have if you dont have weeks to spend to get every last Pokemon and you cant find omeone with a Ruby to link to your Saphire to finish your colection. but if you have a GameShark you are not stuck, i am sure that some of you reading this are here because Gameshark is now owned by a new company and their online servise and code updates have seemd to stop compleatly.
What many people don't know is that the Action Replay is Compleatly identical to the GBA GameShark, just with a different sticker on it. down to the Internet Update program.
all they did was licence the hardware and put their own labels on it and changed the coding system around a bit.
well.. if you go to ActionReplays website ...you can download a file that will turn your Gameshark into an action replay CAUTION.. DOING THIS WILL PERMANTLY MAKE YOUR GAMESHARK AN ACTIONREPLAY. AND YOU WILL LOOSE ANY CODES YOU HAVE ALREADY ENTERED IN IT, AND GAME SHARK CODES ARE'NT COMPATABLE ONCE YOU UPGRADE.

But on the upside the Upgrade is Compleatly Free Bringing your GS and AR to Version 3 AND and all the codes you had before are replaced with AR versions and Each Game now has almost twice the cheats now and the Program comes with the latest codes in the Download. and I hav'nt missed the Gameshark site since i upgraded. The Download program is updated about Twice a Week and new codes are posted almost Daily!
And I Find that the GameShark with the Replay's program in it is more stable then the Replay version itself, and has no trouble Automaticaly Recoginizing any games I put in it, Even when the code is typed in manualy.
I downloaded over 50 new codes in the last three weeks alone and there are so many New Codes for all the latest games There is no space in the shark any more and I Have to store the rest on the computer till i need it.
After Upgrading you might notice there is a lot less space left to enter more codes.. that is because when upgrading you have been given over 2000 more codes, Just save the you wont use till later on your computer till you need them unless you have over 500 games that you need all the codes on at once.

4 out of 5 stars Torn Between 2 Enhancers   April 25, 2004

I just recently bought the Game Boy Player by Nintendo for my Gamecube, and yet, I still had yet to buy a code enhancer for the system. Still, there were just so many of them, they all seemed to surprise me very well. Arguably, when game enhancers are released, they always seem to get you in the wallet, if one doesn't fit right. You always need to get a video game code enhancer to play and win the game, every time you get a new video game system. Still, I was torn between 2 of them, Gameshark, and Action Replay.

The Action Replay for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance, SP version, and the Game Boy Player for the Nintendo Gamecube, really fits very well for players alike. Unlike other code enhancers, you don't need to constantly update this one by buying another updated version of the Action Replay. The codes work very well with so many different games like Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Brothers 3, Pac-Man collection, and others to boot. You can always either download them from their website, codejunkies.com, or you can manually install codes using the video game magazines that publish those codes, like Electronic Games Monthly, or get their published books of all different codes in updated books that are sold in the stores.

Although it is very tough to tell which one to choose from for the Game Boy Advance, Gameshark or Action Replay. I strongly suggest you get the Action Replay, because it is a little bit cheaper than the Gameshark. It is well worth the tweaking, to beat the games you take for the ride.

4 out of 5 stars Great Device   January 17, 2004

I'm the kind of player who likes to beat a game on my own and then go back with a cheat device and play it in an enhanced mode of some sort.
I'll also use a cheat for a game that is fun but way too hard.

This system works great on my GBA SP, And While I've only used it a couple of times, The PC link is great. It automatically detected that my firmware needed to be upgraded and did so. and downloading the new codes I wanted was very easy.

The only reason I didn't rate the device 5 out of 5 is that it is kind of bulky. I know that it can't be helped, but it still affects my opinion.

I've had more luck with my AR devices than I had with my Game shark devices.

This is a GREAT cheat system, first off all they are always updating the codes so you can have codes for all of your favorite games, and there is a software program that it comes with that enters the codes for you, yeah you heard me right, so people please use your brains and by this thing instead of that old no good gameshark.

4 out of 5 stars Action Replay cheats for Ruby and Sapphire   November 26, 2004

I have recently bought an Action Replay(AR), and it is great! For all you parents who are clueless about ARs, it alters the game data to enhance game play. For pokemon Ruby And Sapphire, which are the most popular to cheat with an AR, you can get all the new pokemon in Hoenn, all the pokemon from Gold, Silver, and Crystal, and get infinite money, infinite rare candies, all berries, all TMs(Items that teach pokemon moves)and HMs(same as TMs),and get codes for other games on www.codejunkies.com, and do google search for Action Replay codes for Ruby and Sapphire and hit I'm Feeling Lucky for great codes. My favorite code on that site is walk through walls. The codes are in a format of 0-9 numbers and A-F+M letters. The first 2 lines of 7 of the numbers and letters tell the AR where to go in the game, and the other 2 tell it what to do there. Hope my review helped kids with their wish list and parents with a gift ideas! BTW, the version you buy from Amazon is version 5.0, there is a version 5.4 out, but they are pretty much the same.
