Indeed a Great Game June 9, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Mech Platoon is a very good game that provides challenging levels, but fun never less; it does not play like advance wars whereas it plays real-time. You start by choosing one of the three teams, Leon, Minos, and Trampler. In the game you don't start out with the power to build all of the units, you acquire them by gathering parts that you salvage from missions, giving a new twist to the game. The units in the game have special abilities, which give it power over enemy units, for example it your unit you control has Assault - slay, the unit has more power when fighting close combat units. There are six buildings in the game plus one secret one, each of them can build, upgrade, or defend, however the seventh one... I won't give the secret away. As the game progresses the game gets harder and harder and the enemy units get smarter. But overall this game is a worth it, I suggest you to buy it because it's great, but it is hard to find in stores.
Great game- couple of problems though March 9, 2003 Woo J Lee (Newbury, MA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
15 hoursGREAT GAME!!!!! Even though there is several problems with it, I really liked this game. The graphics are great, and the intro movie is amazing. I think thats the best graphics I have ever seen on GBA. Gameplay- The computer AI could have used a lot more work. It is rather dumb, but sometimes it is hard to win just because of the sheer numbers that it has. Also, once you select a unit and you send it somewhere, it becomes unselected. That gets annoying sometimes when you miss your target. I like the grouping idea though. I thought the whole unit system was the best part of the game. Its great- you can have over 40 different units to select from. I give gameplay a 4 out of 5 stars. Sound- The music is the worst part of the entire game. Sometimes it gets so annoying that you shut it off, then you cant hear the sound effects. I like the explosions and the laser shots, but man the music could have used some work. I've heard Gameboy Color music thats better. I give music 2 out of 5 stars. Graphics- The graphics are great; not the greatest, but they are better than average. And I just have to give this 4.5 out of 5 because of the intro move- you'll really like it. I give Graphics 4.5 out of 5 stars. Replay value- Yes. After you finish the campaign mode, you can play w/ your friends or play the computer. I give Replay value a 4 out of 5 stars. Overall a great buy, but it is possible to overpay for it. I hope they come out with a Mech Platoon 2 and fix some of the problems it has right now.
Portable fun for an RTS fan January 19, 2003 garrick (Janesville, WI) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I would buy this game, but ONLY if you like real time strategy games. Don't look at just the stars for some of those 1 star reviews, because those complaints could be said about any RTS game. Ok so the AI could be a little dumb sometimes, but that is what a link mode is for and yes the missions could be better. If you don't like the genre, don't buy the game, If you like the genre, go ahead and buy it
Just what i hoped October 12, 2002 I expected a game that was fun and kept me entertained. I was right. The game has a little differnent campaign mode depending on the group you choose. and always had a challenge. The game was easy to understand and quick to get going so it keeps you going for hours at a time. The game has 3 groups to pick from for campaign mode. The game it self lastes to 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours if your just doing one of the groups.
it is ok August 22, 2002 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
i thought that the game was lots of fun, but too hard. if you love command and conquer, this is a must have.
