Annoying July 20, 2007 Whitewater Guide (Salem, MA United States) 21 out of 22 found this review helpful
The case and functionality with the device are nice. The magnetic closure is effective and quick to use, and if you've set your device correctly, email will open automatically as it should when the Blackberry is removed from the case. However, the belt clip is terrible. Even if you're just a bit overweight, the top of the clip will jab you in the "love handles" section of your sides. The clip is extended in a way that makes no sense - for leverage when unclipping, I guess, and it's terribly frustrating. Not to mention the fact that it gets snagged on things and will break. I'm on my second holster already. The Blackberry Curve is a great device. But I'm not sure there's a better clip/holster alternative for it. I wish there were - or that RIM would fix this holster clip.
Breaks much too easily April 26, 2008 David C. Brayton (Santa Rosa, CA United States) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I've purchased two of these and both have broken at the swivel. The first broke after about three weeks. I caught it on something, so I wasn't too disappointed that it broke. But I did think it broke too easily. The second one broke after about ten days of use but this time it was clear that it shouldn't have failed. It came apart with such little use that I was forced to leave this review to warn other that this product has a design defect. Which is quite unfortunate because in every other way it is a great product--looks good and the magnetic closure is cool. The swivel mechanism is just a small piece of weak plastic. It will break and break quickly. It is junk and should be avoided.
Wear inside front pocket, not outside your belt!! November 16, 2007 Matthew J. Rygelski (St. Louis, MO USA) 10 out of 15 found this review helpful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2FBY4YFMBPOIW With a little modification, this holster can be a lot more convenient. When you clip these kind of cases to your belt, it isn't too long before it gets caught on something and breaks! Remember the old days of pagers, when you could carry them inside your pocket or on your belt? The free BlackBerry "calculator case" included with my phone was almost perfect... but it didn't have a clip so when I placed the case in my front pocket, it fell to the bottom of my pocket and made it impossible to reach when the phone was ringing. This optional holster is strong enough to hold the phone on its own, so the little magnetic flap is unnecessary and prohibits you from simply turning the case around and placing the whole thing inside your pocket. But with a pair of scissors, the only thing showing outside your clothing is the small plastic clip. Because of the officially-licensed "proximity sensor" built into this case, you simply slide the phone back in to the case in your pocket and it automatically locks the keys from accidentally speed dialing your boss. Just cut off that stupid front flap and this case is perfect for anyone with a little touch of modern style, unless you're happy looking like some wannabe superhero with a utility belt.
Tight fit w/ skins October 8, 2007 What Barry Likes 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
If you are going to put a skin on your 8300 you should purchase the 8800 OEM holster. The 8800 is a little wider than the 8300 so the 8300 w/ a skin fits perfect.
Excellent Product - Could Use a Redesign October 12, 2007 Donald Lawson (Allentown, Pennsylvania) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
The official 83xx series holster works quite well. It has all the usual Blackberry holster features (selective notification, instant screen off, etc.). A number of reviewers have complained that the top of the belt clip pokes them in the side. My fix for that is to simply swivel the clip around and clip from the bottom (see images). The clip is a "J" spring design so it will still securely hold your Blackberry. The only problem with this method is the swivel has a stop that prevents the holster from rotating 180 (to prevent full rotation and the subsequent loss due to gravity). This forces front loading (vs. top loading). A slight design change in the swivel mechanism and this problem would go away. Get the inexpensive protective film from Best Skins Ever (total body) and you are set to go.
