AT&T Service
This AT&T phone can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T's 3G mobile broadband data network, which is available in most major metropolitan areas. The AT&T 3G network uses the UMTS 850/1900 network (also known as WCDMA), making it possible to enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless multimedia services with speeds up to 3.6 Mbps. It also gives AT&T the advantage of offering simultaneous voice and data services.

In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. Providing average data speeds between 75-135Kbps, it's fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services, including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go.

With 3G connectivity, you'll be able to access AT&T's Cellular Video (CV) service and the Internet while on the go. Cellular Video features content from CNN, The Weather Channel, iFilm, Comedy Central and exclusive premium content from HBO and much more. And you get access to AT&T Mobile Music, which enables you to buy tracks while on the, access the Napster subscription music service, stream music video, discover what's playing with Music ID song-recognition software, and find out what's hot with The Buzz music news portal. (A MEdia Max subscription bundle is recommended for accessing AT&T's Internet, video, and music services.)

The phone has a built-in web browser for MEdia Net downloads and mobile web browsing. AT&T's MEdia Net service enables you to receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more.

Phone Features
The Pantech Duo intuitively and stylishly transitions between your communication and computing needs with the dual sliding keyboards. When holding the Duo in a wide, landscape orientation, the QWERTY keyboard slides open for writing e-mail and editing Microsoft Word and Excel documents. And the drop-down numeric keypad is ideal for sending quick texts and dialing on the run. A flip of the wrist initiates either keyboard to address any mobile need. The Duo's lean design houses both keypads and a large 2.2-inch color screen in a device that measures just 0.83 inches thick, 4 inches tall, and 2 inches wide.

With Microsoft Office Mobile you can leave your laptop behind. Synchronize with your computer and Mobile Outlook provides up-to-the-minute management of your calendar, contacts and e-mail. Windows Mobile 6 also delivers the ability to view e-mail messages in their original rich HTML format with live links to Web sites and Microsoft Office SharePoint sites, which means that text and images are displayed as they would be on a Windows PC. View and edit Excel, Word and PowerPoint documents.

In addition to having the ability to take the office on the road, the Pantech duo includes the AT&T Xpress Mail push e-mail service--with support for most popular POP3/IMAP personal e-mail services--instant messaging capabilities, and the ability to send and receive multimedia messages with color videos and photos. You'll also be able to use Windows Media Player to store and access pictures, videos and music.

Handsfree communication is easy thanks to the integrated Bluetooth wireless connectivity (version 1.2), which includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones.

Simple, intuitive controls allow for easy access to any of features of the Pantech Duo. Use the 5-way navigation key to locate and select options appearing on the display. Instantly answer and end calls or initiate a call from your contact list, all without using the concealed numeric keypad or QWERTY keyboard. Other features include:

  • 1.3-megapixel camera captures video in QCIF resolution (maximum length based on available memory)
  • Real music ringers from MP3, WMA, and WAV files and 64-chord polyphonic tones
  • XT9 predictive text entry
  • Speakerphone
  • 50 MB internal memory, expandable via optional MicroSD memory cards

Vital Statistics
The Pantech Duo weighs 3.88 ounces and measures 4.02 x 1.97 x 0.83 inches. Its 1320 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3 hours of talk time, and up to 150 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies as well as 850/1900 WCDMA (3G) frequencies.

Powered by Windows Mobile 6

Windows Mobile 6 Standard adds power to your mobile office with up-to-date e-mail delivery and automatic synchronization of Outlook calendars.

Edit Word documents and Excel spreadsheets on your phone, just as you would on your desktop/laptop PC.
Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6 updates the Windows Mobile 5 platform with a number of handy features that make searching through email, editing Microsoft Office documents, and staying on top of your most important communications even easier. Emails can now be viewed in their original rich HTML format and now offer the ability to visit embedded links. It also includes Windows Live for Windows Mobile, which provides a full set of Windows Live services, such as the Windows Live Messenger IM application, which now enables you to chat with more than one person at one time or send a file.

With Windows Mobile 6, your phone will finally be able to emulate the power and features of your PC's Microsoft Office suite. You'll be able to neatly view, navigate and edit Word documents and Excel spreadsheets in their original formatting--without affecting tables, images or text--as well as view PowerPoint presentations.

  • Microsoft Office Word Mobile features include spell-check, Find and Replace commands, bulleted lists, text formatting, and support for tables for the first time.
  • With Excel Mobile, youOre not just confined to editing charts: with the new Chart Wizard you can create charts quickly and easily.
  • PowerPoint Mobile allows you to view the full presentation, rehearse timings, check the order and any live links you may have in your presentation. You can then email comments back to the team or communicate via MSN Messenger for an immediate response.
  • After creating or editing a Word document or Excel spreadsheet, you can synchronize it with your PC and it will automatically be converted to the PC version.

All Windows Mobile 6 powered devices include Direct Push Technology for up-to-date e-mail delivery and automatic synchronization of Outlook calendars, tasks and contacts through Microsoft Exchange Server. It also offers a set of important device security and management features that include the capability to remotely wipe all data from a device should it be lost or stolen, helping ensure that confidential information remains that way.

2 out of 5 stars Make sure you can return this item   December 26, 2007

I purchased the Pantech Duo model C810 because of the qwerty keyboard feature. That part of it worked fine. The rest of it I was more than a little disappointed in.
MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT is the sound quality of a normal voice conversation. It was extremely muffled and at times unintelligible.

QWERTY KEYBOARD: This is a nice feature if you send a lot of text or typing. The layout is, of course, small and takes some practice to get the right keys. It is still better than tapping out on a numerical layout.
BLUETOOTH: I tried to use bluetooth to transfer my ringtones from my other phone and received an error message stating that "was not supported". Although it did come with a data cable in the box to transfer them from a computer.
MENUS: It is easy to get lost in the menus. It took quite a while to even find where to change certain options or how to set ringtones. I feel I am very knowledgeable on with electronics. I have had and set up many different cell phones by several different manufacturers. With that said, I quickly became lost in the menus.
I will be returning this phone and do not recommend it if your primary use for it is voice communication.

2 out of 5 stars good idea, but not a good product   January 3, 2008

Let me first start off by saying I LOVE AT&T- I love their services, I love their customer service, they have great phones. I was trying to switch over from Sprint. Sprint sucks. their customer service is horrific, I've had nothing but problems, and most of their phones fall short of the current technology.

Secondly, IF YOU BUY CELL PHONES WITH SERVICE FROM AMAZON, YOU CANNOT EXCHANGE THEM. You can return them for a refund, your account will remain active with the cellular carrier you chose, but you cannot exchange the phone through Amazon, and you have to close the cell account, return the phones and wait 60 days before ordering cells with service from Amazon.com again, if you decide to do so. I will not.

but back to the Duo. we've had this phone since Jan 2, 2008. they are being returned, without exchange mind you.

I have a Treo 700wx and my daughter has the Rumor with Sprint. she loves her slide-out QWERTY and YIM, and I was envious of that- I have a full QWERTY, but no java support on WM5 for instant messaging services (I can't even send picture text messages without 3rd-party software). we wanted to switch over to AT&T for several reasons, and the Duo seemed like a good match for the both of us. so I ordered 2 of them through Amazon. I should have listened to the reviews.

in our opinion, the Duo is small in size, difficult to handle, and the buttons are small as well as difficult to manage. the slide-out QWERTY is the second "layer" and it is not hard to slide out- actually, it's hard to make sure it doesn't! the 12-key pad has a locking to it, to avoid accidental sliding, unlike the QWERTY. in all, it felt like with one drop on the carpet, this thing would break into it's three layers, and you feel that sensation while in your hand.

the QWERTY keys are square, rubbery and flush with the tray, so it is difficult to type with. I had fun playing with it, but my daughter was almost crying because she wanted her Rumor back. she really did not like this phone. she thought she was going to break it.

I'm a multi-tasker, and I could not hold the phone between my ear and shoulder. the way the slider is, there's not enough there to hold onto this way. I hadn't investigated enough to know how to turn the speaker phone on.

calls sounded muffled on both mine and my daughter's. even with the volume all the way up, it was hard to hear whomever we were speaking to. we checked with AT&T to see if it was the service area, but it was not.

it is attractive to look at, until you see the finger smudges all over. the camera was decent. the colors and screen clarity are great, but the screen is small to me. great AT&T services to use the internet, instant messaging, etc.. WM6, which is great, but you cannot customize the today screen with what *you* want on it, unlike my Treo with WM5.

so we're back with our Sprint phones for the time being, until all this mess gets straightened out with Amazon, so we can have our phone numbers ported back on phones we really want, with an excellent service provider.

4 out of 5 stars good buy for those who text frequently   March 25, 2008

I bought my 18-year-old daughter this phone to replace a Razor so she could text more easily. She has had it for 6 months and LOVES it. Very easy to use as a "texting tool". She does not connect to the internet on it. The smaller size is nice, it fits well in a pocket.

I then bought the phone for my 16-year old son, and had a different experience. After 25 days, we returned it because it froze frequently, and would not receive phone calls/texts occasionally even with full bars of service. He regularly had to remove the battery and put it back in to reset it. The new replacement pantech duo phone has worked great, no problems. He has had this one for 2 months.

I am guessing that maybe there are some duds out there, so just make sure you can exchange it before you plunk down your money. (I purchased mine through an AT&T store and had no problem with the return.)

I purchased this phone after reading mixed reviews.. I am glad that I followed my gut on this one and got one.. Other phones promise, but this one delivers.. The bluetooth is solid, using the device for email and messaging is the easiest I have ever experienced. I get service with this phone in areas where my other phones wouldnt.. the QWERTY is very usable and the phone is very solid.. I have dropped mine numerous times and it still works perfectly... I am getting my husband one for his bithday since he is always asking to use mine!!!

5 out of 5 stars Pantech Duo   January 25, 2008

This phone is one of the best phones I have ever used.

The features on this phone make life a lot easier because it's like a PDA but smaller and a phone. Now, I am not a business person on the go, but I'm a full time student and working 30 hours a week, so things can get pretty crazy for me. This phone has helped with scheduling my classes, work , and time set aside for homework.

If I had to name one problem, it would be that when I first received this phone, I got a faulty one. When I went to the settings menu, I found codes instead recognizable language. So, I returned it and AT&T gave me a new one with no hassle at all.

Some people have given this phone bad reviews and that's their opinion. I think they don't like this phone because they are too used to their old phone and too stubborn to break their shell and try something new. My point is this, if you're looking for a new phone and you want your day to flow with easy, give this phone a try.

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
