Tracfone Service
Tracfone provides nationwide prepaid wireless service using the nation's leading cellular providers to create a national footprint covering 99 percent of the U.S. population. This gives you service everywhere cellular service is available.

You can buy bundles of minutes (which must be used within a set time limit of 90 to 365 days) from the Tracfone web site on your home PC or directly from your phone's web browser. This phone ships with a number of handy Tracfone services, including free voice mail, free caller ID, and free call waiting. And perhaps most importantly, the integrated TracFone Airtime Balance Display shows you how much airtime you've used and how much is left, so you can control your costs.

Phone Features
Weighing in at an ultra-light 3.4-ounces, the super-slim W370 fits comfortably in your hand and flips open effortlessly to reveal a large and vivid full-color 128 x 160 screen and streamlined keypad. Instead of an external LCD, the W370 sports a series of unique, light-up icons that signal new messages, low battery, and other events. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad. Use the phone's stereo-compatible 2.5mm headset jack with your favorite stereo earphones or handsfree headset. Lastly, charging and USB data connectivity can be found on the bottom edge of the phone.

The W370's internal phonebook can hold up to 100 contacts and includes picture phonebook options. The phone also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. There's even an included application, MotoMixer, that lets you mix your own ringtones, while the built-in, office-quality speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear.

Delivering a full suite of organizational features, the Motorola W370 makes juggling business and pleasure seamless. You can manage your schedule via the included calendar and alarm clock, keep track of colleagues with vCard capabilities, or host a meeting over the integrated speakerphone. You can even transfer media files such as pictures and polyphonic ringtones from your PC through the phone's supported USB cable option. There's even an included currency converter.

The W370 is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound, and video via messages. There's also a built-in WAP 2.0 Web browser for fast mobile Web browsing. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Other features include:

  • 1.5 MB of internal memory
  • Stopwatch
  • Speakerphone
  • Picture phonebook on internal screen

Vital Statistics
The Motorola W370 weighs 3.4 ounces and measures 3.90 x 1.77 x 0.73 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 7.5 hours of talk time, and up to 10 days of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/1900 GSM/GPRS frequencies.

3 out of 5 stars A great phone, but not without it's issues...   November 20, 2007

I bought this phone as soon as it hit store shelves, I had read about it on Tracfone's website, and wanted it as an upgrade for my old Motorola C139 Tracfone.
After having it setup, I loved it! It was a huge upgrade from the C139 with it's MP3 ringtones, sleak flip phone design, (looks alot like the Moto KRZR, I call it the TRZR) high resolution display, and mobile web browsing!
However, as much as I like this phone, it's not without it's issues...
Since I had just switched my service over from an older Tracfone, I couldn't access the web browser. Whenever I tried, I got a message saying, "There was a problem authorizing your account, please contact Tracfone customer service at, 1-800 ***-****" Getting my web browser functioning after that point was a huge headache... Tracfone's customer service representitives, while very nice and eager to help, are often not quite up-to-date with Tracfone's newest features, and some of them don't speak English very well... It took me 2 phone calls, (because the first time I got someone who had no clue what I was talking about) and the second time around I spent most of the afternoon on the phone until the problem was resolved.
Now the web browser is up and running, but I have a complaint about that as well... The so-called "Web Browser" can only access Tracfone's website at this time... Sure, you can still use it to download ringtones & graphics, read the news, check the weather forecast, etc, but when they say "Web Browser" I was expecting something more along the lines of what the other wireless phone companies have... Granted that their web browser function is a relatively new addition to Tracfone's wireless service, but I hope that they'll expand it, and soon!
Also, my particular W370 Tracfone has a weak 5 button that is not very responsive, and it'll sometimes unexpectedly turn itself off while I'm typing a text message, but that's just mine... I do have a 1 year replacement plan on my phone, but after the headache I went through to get the web browser up and running, I've decided to wait until either the last minute or the phone breaks completely (whatever comes first) to replace it.

Overall, this is a very nice cell phone, great as an upgrade or replacement for an older phone, but if you are upgrading from an older Tracfone that didn't include a web browser function, be prepared for some difficulty...

Overall Rating: 3.5 Stars

UPDATE 5/3/08 I finally used the replacement plan to get a new W370 Tracfone, this new one's 5 button works just fine and the phone doesn't turn itself off like my old one did either. Even after all this time, the Web Browser remains unchanged... Disappointing, but at least I didn't have to call tracfone to get it set up like last time.

4 out of 5 stars Nice looking phone   December 28, 2007

I purchased the phone for my mother who does not need to have a monthly, exorbinant wireless bill every month. She wanted a phone that did not look like a prepaid phone(like the original blue/gray tracfone). She likes the numbers are nice n big on the display so she can see the numbers without difficulty. I like the span of the phone when open - she can now have one piece on the ear and the other by her mouth so she is not "toggling" back and forth when having a conversation. The only reason there are not 5 stars, is the lack of a camera. This would have been a nice feature.

4 out of 5 stars Great Reception- Some features crippled though :(   March 24, 2008

First of all, I bought my w370 at Wal-Mart because it included Double minutes for life for just 49.99. It's a great value for a prepaid phone, it like getting the phone for free.

Speaker phone is good (my primary reason for upgrading from v170)

Here are some of my disappointments with the phone.

1. USB port has been crippled by Tracfone, can be used for charging only, with special driver (not included).

2. You can only use the web browser on Tracfones web site, forget about downloading ring tones etc. from any other website.

3. Distinctive ring feature seems to revert back to default ring at some point, even when you have it set in phone book profile, seems like more of a software bug than anything.(Edit: I was able to get the distinctive ring working by removing and reinstalling the battery after all of the ring tones were assigned, I haven't had a problem since)

I have been able to email background pictures to the phone and use them successfully, but I haven't been able to successfully use any .wav sounds as ring tones as of yet.

Overall the phone looks good and is a great value for the money, especially if you don't mind disabled features

4 out of 5 stars Good, definitely not perfect, but very good.   January 26, 2008

I had an older tracphone which I broke, so I got this one. I was instantly attracted to it's sleek design(not as thin as a razr but dinitely good enough for me), and it's super-upgraded features. I didn't have a problem with any of the setup except for when I tried to add airtime by using my phone. I tried it 3 times and got the same message and then I had to make a 20 minute phone call. The web browser is expensive and minimal but it's enough for me, it's a cell phone not a laptop. This is a phone that is perfect for people with a tight budget who want a nice phone, but it's features might(key-word might) leave you wanting more.

Pros: Flip phone
Pretty good signal
Good sound quality
Neat light icons
OK games
Web browser
Can download ring tones on the web
Slim

Cons: No external screen
Takes off too many units. Takes off .5 units to send and receive text messages.
Confusing
Can download ring tones on the web, but must download from the web on the phone, takes off units for using the web and an additional 23.9 units or so to download it.
