buy one. i did! August 16, 2005 Nazar Vojtovich (Chicago, IL United States) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This priceless little monopod is better than i expected it to be. it's very light, very well made(its leg collapses very smoothly, much better than i expected from a cheap monopod like this one). Having had it only a couple days, I couldn't help but notice how blur-free my photos have become(I'm using the hefty Nikon D70 DSLR without any fancy image stabilizing lenses). Also, this monopod DOES come with the quick release! just screw the release plate to your camera and when you need extra support(which should be a lot of times, if you really care about the sharpness of your photos, esp. on SLR cameras), simply slide the camera with the plate on the monopod's mounting surface. For taking the camera with the plate off the monopod, there's a little button, which releases the mounting plate and lets you slide it in one direction and take the camera off the monopod. This is all much better than I expected from a cheap 15-dollar monopod. This is the best and cheapest piece of camera stabilizing equipment you can buy. Do I have to tell you again I love this magic stick! Like Ken Rockwell says, "Buy one. I did!" :)

For the price, I don't think you can ask for anything more. They must have revised their product because mine DOES come with a quick release. On top of that, they now include a cellphone clip (for those who have camera phones). So you screw that clip to the mount and clip (spring loaded) your cellphone on it. It's a joke, but hey, it came free with the monopod. :)
Great accessory for your camera September 15, 2005 A. Swinford (tulsa, ok) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this monopod to use places I want a good steady shot, but dont want to fumble around with a tripod. Opens quickly, closes quickly. It doesn't come with a carry bag, and the cell phone clip is a joke. I wish they had left that out and put a carry bag instead.
Good for an inexpensive monopod September 26, 2005 Kelli Shaver (Morehead, KY USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a good little monopod for the price. It doesn't feel overly rugged, but it seems adequately made. It is very lightweight, and I really like that it has 4 sections instead of 3. This lets you add a little more to the overall height, while taking a couple of inches off the collapsed length. It collapses down very small (one of the main reasons I chose this monopod). In fact, it's small enough to strap right on to the side of my camera bag and not get in the way. It has a bit of flexibility without feeling flimsy, and it does come with a quick release. If you're the type that's not too rough on your equipment and you just want something to help you steady the camera at times when a tripod isn't feasible, then this should serve the purpose nicely.
Sima Monopod experience October 4, 2005 J. Redding (Colorado) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This monopod was a lot smaller than the picture led me to believe but for it's size seems sturdy enough. Just don't put any heavy cameras on it. The quick release is very easy to mount and align with the camera. The tilt head worked just fine and didn't slip. Monopod is lighter than other similar units. For the price I paid I got more than I expected.
