I've been a jerky eater for quite some time and Mr. Z Premium Beef Jerky is among the best mass produced beef jerky that I've tasted. The pieces are a nice size--not too big, not too small--and the jerky has a very nice texture to it. It's very chewy without being too tough. The original flavor is quite tasty, although just a touch on the sweet side. This jerky is high in protein and 96% fat free, which makes it a great snack for adults and kids alike. My one major complaint with this product? The packaging. I would've given Mr. Z five starts if it had come in a resealable package. But once you open this, it's open; unlike most other products of this type, there is no "zipper" top on the package to allow you to reseal it. This could be kind of inconvenient if you're taking the jerky with you on a camping/hiking trip or long car ride. But overall, an excellent product!

I do like this particular jerky. The meat is fresh, the packaging is informative and the cuts are consistent. Not bad at all.
Pros:
- Extremely full flavored.
- Has a hint of whiskey or some other flavor in the meat.
- Calorie content is in line with expectations.
- Additives to the product are a minimum.
- Relatively large and consistent cuts of meat.
Cons:
- Slightly less moist then other cuts/brands I have had.
- Slightly less moist then other cuts/brands I have had.
- Bag is not re-sealable at least in this size.
Overall a good jerky. If I was running the Mr. Z brand the first thing I would do is make the bag re-sealable. Give it a shot. I am sure you will like it.

I am not a huge beef jerky fan. It all tastes fake, has a weird after taste and is as hard as shoe leather. I tried Mr.Z Beef Jerky on a whim, and wow, was I pleasantly surprised. The pieces are bite sized, the beef is much more tender than any other jerky product I have had in the past, and the spices used are really nice. The spices don't over-power the meat, it's not too salty or too peppery, it's just about perfect. The only drawback I found with the product is not being able to reseal the bag. There is more product than I would want to consume at one time so a resealable bag would have come in handy.

The first thing that struck me when I tasted Mr. Z Premium Beef Jerky in the Original Flavor is the texture. While definitely dried, as good jerky is, it wasn't TOO dry. Instead, this has to be the most tender jerky I've ever enjoyed. And believe me, `enjoy' is definitely the operative word here!
The jerky has a great texture - it's not too soft, but it is easy to bite into and tear off, and doesn't crumble all over the place when you do. In addition, the package I received contained pieces that were easy for me to eat without needing to tear them apart. With many other brands of jerky, I find the pieces too large for me to eat a whole piece.
In the category of texture, Mr. Z Premium Beef Jerky is hands down my very favorite beef jerky.
As for the flavor, it is right up there in my top two. Mr. Z Premium Beef Jerky Original Flavor has a fresh flavor that lets the taste of the beef shine through, without overloading it with marinades or spices while it still has a wonderful smoky flavor with a subtle sweetness.
When I first tasted this jerky, I thought it compared to my previous favorite, Oberto's. Before writing this review, however, I bought a bag of Oberto's so I could perform a true taste test.
Next to Mr. Z's, Oberto's is nowhere near as appetizing as I once thought it was. While it has a good flavor, the texture just cannot be compared to Mr. Z's tender jerky.
To compare another jerky, while Jack's Links have a good flavor, their jerky always has a good bit of gristle in it when I've tried it. This is not an issue with the Mr. Z brand. When they say Premium, it is obvious they mean it.
And I have to compare a new one I recently tried - World Kitchens Brown Sugar Flavor. I only recently discovered this brand, and once again, Mr. Z beats them in the category of texture. The brown sugar flavoring, however, was pleasing enough that I would really like to see a similar flavor from Mr. Z Premium Beef Jerky.
On an interesting note, the package states it comes from Brazil, which intrigued me. I had no idea when I ordered it that I would be enjoying imported beef jerky! Apparently, I very much like it... So much so, that I've already ordered some from Amazon.com!

Ok... let me start off by saying that I am not a big fan of real Beef Jerky. I like the fake Slim Jims that aren't really beef after all LOL. Now on to this jerky.
It is real meat. When you firt open the bag you are hit with that heavenly smoked aroma!! IT was great. It sort of reminded me of that smoked pig ears' treat for dogs. Again... I am not a true fan of jerky, but I can say that it was good... a tad too sweet which I discovered came from the soy sauce in the ingredients. It tastes like real meat with a nice smokey sweet flavor... what else can you ask for??
The funny thing was that my 2 and 4 year old went crazy for this stuff. The meat wasn't chewey and hard. I was able to sort of peel strips off and chew rather than have a hunk of meat in my mouth.
I recommend them because I know real jerky lovers will enjoy them tremendously.
