goes on forever April 17, 2006 Stephen McHenry (Olney, MD USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have a Krups coffee grinder that is the earlier version of this one, looks almost identical, and have been using it for 21 years! Grinds fine expresso grind in about 15 seconds, drip grind in less: And fresh ground coffee is really, really good. This machine is so reliable, trouble free and easy to use. Although the ad says you can also grind nuts and spices, I do not recommend going back and forth between the coffee and nuts as the fine particles of one get mixed in with the other. Grinds really well, lasts forever. What more can you ask?
Not for spices at all! October 16, 2006 Daniel M. Pomerantz (St. Louis, MO) 11 out of 14 found this review helpful
I needed a spice grinder and got this because it was the only one available locally at the time. The box on it said "Coffee and spice grinder," and my father used one of these for coffee for years, so I figured it had to be okay. After buying it, it was obvious that the "spice grinder" part was a marketing gimmick as the included docs didn't talk about it at all. End result, while it did a fine job grinding, it is impossible to clean! Neither the metal bowl nor the blade can be removed, so you can't scrub it, especially the bottom of the blade. There is also a seam between the bowl and the plastic which collects ground spices. Unless you want your freshly ground cinnamon tasting like coriander and black pepper, don't buy this unless you buy one for each spice. I'm sure it does a fine job with coffee, but for spices, it is not good and I feel ripped off. I kept it and cleaned as best I could until I found a Kitchen-Aid model, that while not quite as good at grinding, is able to be cleaned. Much better!
Keeps me one up on the next cube. June 1, 2000 B. Chandler (Arlington, Texas) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
This thing is great, as I believe that the coffee stays fresher in bean form until needed. Also At work it is fun to be one up on those people that tote their cans to work. So you may need more than one coffee grinder. The case is durable and the motor does not bog down. The only drawback I have found is when changing coffee types; you need to get your finger in there to clean out the residue. I haven't lost a finger yet.
>15 years and going strong September 23, 2003 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Have had and enjoyed this grinder since 1987. It's not dishwasher safe, so only 4 stars, but cleanup isn't difficult -- a damp paper towel (wipe out and let dry) or a broken up piece of white bread ("grind" and toss) and it's good to go another day.
Broke after the 5th use January 3, 2006 Amy Mitton (Mission Viejo, CA United States) 10 out of 14 found this review helpful
Yes, indeed........the 5th use. The blade dug into the metal lining and broke off. Not much to say beyond that - it's not as though I had a lot of time to establish any other opinion.
