This is a great machine October 27, 2005 K. G. Tweedy (Moss Landing, Ca USA) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought this for my husband's Birthday and he loves it...It works really well, eggs to perfection and toast also and the meat is heated too, sure beats an EggMcMuffin at McDonalds and cheaper too with the price of gas, you can't go wrong! I'm sending another to my Aunt and Uncle! KG Tweedy
Super Toaster! December 27, 2005 K. Carey 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I gave this to my Dad for Christmas, and it was so great I bought one for myself! We tried soft-boiled eggs and a "poached" egg, and both cooked perfectly. The toaster toasts very evenly. Two comments I'd like to add are: 1. The "poached" egg is not actually sitting in water like a real poached egg, so it's actually better. 2. If you cook your egg in the shell, you cannot use the meat tray at the same time. That was a disappointment. And a small piece of advice: run the toaster without bread a couple of times when you first get it, or your first toast will taste like new appliance.
Wow ! ! ! December 29, 2005 A. Dodson (Richmond, In) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Usually if something sounds too good to be true, it is, But not this time ! This handy gadget really does make perfectly poached eggs and perfectly toasted English muffins in just minutes. Fresh, hot and ready in less time than it takes to feed the cat or squeeze a tall glass of fresh juice. I ordered this little marvel as a Christmas gift for myself on Christmas eve. It arrived today, Dec. 28th. I have already made perfect hard boiled (steamed) eggs and a great sausage egg muffin. Clean up is a breeze. Other than the need for a little caution when removing the cover of the steam chamber and the need to drain a small amount of condensation from the egg pan, things couldn't have been better. This will definitely be the gift of choice for friends this coming year.

I got my toaster last night and it's splendide! My family needed a new toaster and I thought that this one would be a fun replacement for our old one, and it is! How do I love it? Let me count the ways... 1. Easy to use Considering the fact that it toasts bread, cooks eggs AND warms meat, operating the machine is very simple. I didn't even have to read the instructions prior to use because I'm a rocket scientist with three doctorates and a Nobel Prize. But once you unfortunate bourgeoisie read the instructions you, too, will become masters of this machine. 2. Healthy I used egg whites, Canadian bacon and a tiny dab of margarine on my sandwich and it tasted great. The McGrease and McMystery in those fast-food sandwiches propel me closer to an early death, which is not good, considering my intellectual value to society. Thank goodness for Canadian bacon, which allows health-conscious people to fool themselves into thinking they ate an exotic variation of bacon when, in fact, they just ate a thick and preternaturally round slice of ham. 3. Quick & Low-Maintenance You really don't need to clean up after this thing...you just need to rinse those little food trays in the steamer. It sure beats cleaning up the skillets and pans you'd normally use to cook the meat and eggs. Of course, my servants manage such menial tasks...but I'm just offering my wisdom to you unfortunate laborers out there who will be making your own sandwiches. (Pity!) 4. Versatility If you tire of having the same English muffin, egg white, and preternaturally round ham sandwich every morning, you can definitely explore other options. I commanded my servants to toast two frozen waffles, scramble an egg and heat up a turkey sausage patty for me and that was utterly refreshing. Perhaps in the future I will command them to toast a croissant, soft-poach an egg and steam a link of boudin blanc. Then I will dine like the classy Parisian princesse that I am, mon amie!
So Much More Fat on Me Now! March 10, 2006 Chris Tyrrell 10 out of 20 found this review helpful
I'm trying to recall what life was like before the Back to Basics TEM500 Egg & Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher, and quite frankly I can barely remember it. I seem to remember a lot more sadness in my life. Now that I can poach my eggs in the SAME MACHINE that I'm toasting my bread(!), I save so much time and energy. In the olden days, I used to have to walk two--sometimes three feet from the toaster to the stove. But no longer! Now I get to stand in place and just watch the magic happen. Hey, exercise: see you later. It was nice knowing you (NOT!) And while I haven't calculated how much time I've saved by eliminating the aforementioned two- or three-foot walk, I'd reckon that by the end of the year, I will have banked literally minutes upon minutes that I can use at my leisure. How will I use this extra time? Hmm? Some more poached eggs and toast sound like a yummy way to pass the time. Since I got the machine in mid-February I have gained 18 or so pounds, but it's mostly muscle and cholesterol. Yay, progress!
