Simply the best May 3, 2003 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have been a subscriber to Threads since it's inaugural issue, and have saved every one. The publishers, writers and editors have uncompromising standards for accuracy, originality and inspiration. While the magazine has evolved over the years, and away from accessory crafts such as knitting, it has nevertheless remained the premier publication for fine sewing. Some articles are geared towards the advanced sewers, but many basic techniques and information are shown and explained more clearly, in more easy to understand depth, than any other publication of it's type. The pictures and diagrams are professional and clear. The instructions well written. Even the advertising is worth perusing. Top caliber all around.
Best sewing magazine ever November 1, 2003 Joanna Daneman (Middletown, DE USA) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
From fitting pants to making origami pants, there is always something for the sewer to learn and enjoy. Threads used to have good knitting articles, but decided to abandon the subject to concentrate on sewing. If you are a fashion sewer, this is a must-have.
Better than a mid-night phone call... May 19, 2004 Victoria (Springfield Missouri) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I simply love this magazine. Over the years as I have taken on a sewing project. The odd class play costume, pair of curtains or the shirt I wanted. This Magaizine has always had the best explainations of sewing instructions, plus pictures to go along. I have enjoyed their insightful discussions of fabrics as well as all the latest "news" from the wide world of garment making. I apperciate that they are not devoted to making holiday crafts! The world does not need another set of fluff instructions. I look foward to the beautiful back page of historical fabric as well every month. Its the only magazine of which I have ever collected an entire set of back issues. These I consider a bit of a "Sewing Safty Net" They are worth their weight in gold. Some day maybe I'll buy the issues binders.
Well worth it January 16, 2003 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Of all the magazines I get (and I get a number of them), this is the one I ALWAYS take the time immediately to read cover to cover. Even though every article is not of interest to me, I at least peruse it not only to expand my horizons but also there is almost always some fact or tip that can be used. This is really a wonderful magazine. I keep all my old ones. You will also see advertisers of different pattern companies....when you are looking for something different. This one is not inexpensive, but SOOOOO worth the money.
Topnotch July 30, 2002 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
If I could subscribe to only one magazine, this would be it. I read every page of every issue. I am pleasantly surprised at how often Threads will address a current project or question that I have. The articles are always intelligently written and clearly illustrated. I even enjoy reading the articles on topics I will probably never use. The projects described are never gimmicky or cutesy. Overall, this magazine is sophisticated, informative, and beautifully designed.
