More liberal bias October 6, 2008 Donna C (NY) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Have just cancelled my subscription after many years. Newsweek is no longer an objective news magazine.
Liberal Bias plus small font October 29, 2008 Cathy A. Burns (Cincinnati, Ohio USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
As a subscriber to Newsweek for 10 plus years I have just cancelled my subscription. I use to look forward to receiving this magazine each week. It was well done with humorous political cartoons and balanced coverage of politics. That is no longer the case. The November 3, 2008 issue which arrived on October 28, 2008 contains three articles that declare Obama the victor in an election that will not take place until November 4, 2008. This continued trend in liberal bias undermines Newsweek's credibility. The font size has been greatly reduced in the last year, probably to reduce costs that they lost in advertisement revenue due to this liberal bias. This small font size makes it hard to read the magazine fast. Do not waste your money on this magazine.
The Magazine has stepped up to the challenges January 17, 2002 Timothy Horneman (Aw heck, I'm just around) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Since Sept. 11, the news world has gotten more challenging-more competitive as well. Among the leaders is certainly Newsweek, who has worked extremely hard and done very well in its investigations.By dumb luck, they ran an exclusive on John Walker Lindh. You know, that guy who fought for the Taliban? They got that story first-big congrats to them. They also discovered a movie-company scandal in finding a fake movie reviewer last year. As well, their carrying of political cartoons is good-they have picked the cream of the crop each week, and I continue to laugh hard. Writers such as Evan Thomas and Eleanor Clift write professionally, carefully, and vividly about the world around us. Thomas has written many articles related to Sept. 11, and has managed somehow to present each story in a different light. All in all, this is a very satisfying magazine.
news and pop culture March 31, 2003 1 out of 10 found this review helpful
Newsweek has info on current events, politics, news, and it includes lifestyle issues as well as pop culture. Its one of my favorites.
Good weekly mag but not as good as Time November 10, 2004 Fruit Loop (Down South) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
Newsweek, with its coverage of world events and trends in health, politics, science and technology, and even entertainment, is still one of the best weekly magazines on the market, but in my opinion not as good as TIME. Some articles do seem to be politically stilted, and in its attempt to attract a more diverse audience, loses sight of its original mission which was to cover major weekly world events. Still interesting reading.
