NEWSWEEKS LIES SPARK MUSLIM RIOTS May 16, 2005 satiegaia (Kansas) 13 out of 21 found this review helpful
I only rate this item 1 star because I have to give a rating: Seventeen dead and untold damage to future relations because the tail wagged the dog. Responsible citizens will hold Newsweek Magazine accountable for the lies, disinformation and treachery it has perpetrated on our country and our military. We refuse their terse, shameless apology, half heartedly issued then accompanied with the promise that they will continue to report more lies which they will attempt to portray as real news. Newsweek should be thoroughly investigated. It has become apparent that their only reason for existing is to put each and every one of our troops, US citizens, my family, me and you in harm's way. Do they stupidly think that their blatant invitation to encourage yet more terrorists acts will not trickle down to themselves because they sleep safely in their beds due to our only defense, our valiant and commited military? This is the same magnificent military they have tried so hard to defame and cause to fail! What if they succeeded? Do they believe they would sleep safe in their beds, then? They must think they and all their liberal, anti-American pals are so far removed from the horrors our troops face every day that they can play dangerous their games back here in the US and no one will call them on it! They are not worth one drop of the blood they spilled because the lies they printed. Newsweek should be on trial for the murders they caused. Newsweek, can you hear me? PEOPLE ARE DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU. satie

If Fareed Zakaria, Eleanor Cliff, Conventional Wisdom Watch, and their noticeable and disturbing slant on "news" isn't enough reason to reconsider your subscription, how about their "reporting" on the Koran flushing? How about Newsweek flushing; makes me feel better!
This is my "one stop" news magazine October 26, 2001 Joss Delage (Seattle, WA USA) 12 out of 17 found this review helpful
This is exactly what I ask my news magazine to be. The personality is fairly liberal, and due to it's scope, the articles are sometimes "1 inch deep and 1 mile wide", but overall, it does the job. The content is typically a mix of national and international events, politics, economics, society, and a tiny bit of glamour.
Some of the interesting features are: - Readers' mail, where they seem *very* keen on picking different points of view, including some that are very different from their own; - Hi-tech product review, always easy to read and geared toward ease of use for common mortals; - 1 page on the key quotes / humor of the week. Always a few funny / sad ones there. - 1 page given to a reader's contribution on a specific subject they care about. Those give a great insight on some Americans' lives. I always enjoy reading them.
Highly recommended.
Goodbye Newsweek June 22, 2002 Bud Klecker (Garden Grove, CA United States) 12 out of 26 found this review helpful
If you want a liberal, Eastern-oriented, "People" imitator, get Newsweek. If you are looking for a balanced, in-depth analysis of last week's news, don't bother. Newsweek has gotten flashier, cuter, glossier, and shallower in the past several years. Worse of all is the arrogant, we-know-it-all style the writers have picked up. "What Bush Knew and When", "The Terrorists the CIA Should Have Caught", "What Bush Should Do" are recent examples. At least they covered recent news, which is rare. This week, they mentioned that the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup, but failed to mention at all that the Los Angeles Lakers pulled off an amazing four-game sweep of New Jersey for the National Basketball Association championship. See what I mean? That's an example of a news week? Why one star? Only because they occasionally publish "The Last Word" column by George F. Will. After many, many years of subscribing to them, it's time to say goodbye.

As a devoted follower of politics, I regret that I must write that I've cancelled my subscription to Newsweek. Newsweek does a great job with behind-the-scenes accounts of political events and its layout and graphics (pictures, graphs, charts, etc.) make issues easy to understand. But I have never seen such biased journalism before in my life. It failed to report the whole story on issues like the 2000 election, stem cell research, and coverage of the Catholic Church. The periodical literally did NOT explore opposing viewpoints; it only reported its own (and it did so as if its own opinions were fact)! I will never again rely on Newsweek for an honest account of the news. Try US News & World Report instead.
