This is truly one of my favorite magazines! It's been a favorite gift for friends and I know that it is being passed to others so each issue gets multiple readings. Of course, my issues are safely in my home library since some things are too good to share.

...when you pick up mental_floss! I spend hours reading each issue; there's just so much there to absorb, so don't expect to pick up the magazine in a rush and hurry through it (though you CAN devour a few morsels on a lunch break or on the go, as long as you can pick it back up later). I love the variety of knowledge offered, and how sometimes the information touches on some interesting topic or tidbit that I have heard of before but never really known what it was. (For example, I've heard of the "vegemite sandwich" from the song, but didn't really know what it was until mental_floss!) It would make a great gift (for yourself, too)!

Mental Floss is a highly entertaining and informative magazine that gives you all kinds of juicy details about a wide variety of topics. It presents challenging ideas that make you think and small notions that you can store away for your next game of Trivial Pursuit. It is never boring and can be read in bits and pieces when you are busy, but the darn thing is so interesting it's hard to put down. It's great for the holiday season because it makes a great gift for anyone who likes to keep their mind "in tune", and it provides a zillion topics to draw on when you are making conversation with the boss at the company Christmas party!

...with the knowledge you gain from reading Mental Floss! The great thing about this mag is that it covers such a variety of subject matter that every issue has SOMETHING you're interested in. I like the quirky facts about famous people, and the easy-to-understand explanations of theories developed by history's most influential thinkers. It's great entertainment--
I've given it as a gift to several friends, and all are surprised by the unique content and humor. Plus, it's not every day you get to spend leisure time getting smarter. I look forward to the next issue!

Maybe the text that says:"The first issue should arrive in 12-16 weeks." and even provides a "Here's Why" link should've been a clue. You can't blame the magazine for amazon.com's distribution technique, now can you? That's like blaming NBC if your show is preempted locally. It's a bimonthly, and by the time the processing goes through, if you miss one issue, it's two months until the next one. That's just how it works. You can get the current issue from a bookstore and/or back issues from the magazine's Web site if you want. I've given a few gift subscriptions and can vouch that mental_floss has superb customer service. The lady I spoke to even wrote out a handwritten Einstein card for me in these cases.
