Sportscenter in print June 3, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I agree with the reviewer that said ESPN the Magazine is for readers with short attention spans. That doesn't make it a bad magazine; it just means they cater to their target market. The Magazine differentiates itself from SI by looking ahead to upcoming events rather than looking back. For the most part the writing is solid and written in the same offbeat style that has made Sportscenter such a hit. In short, it's not the greatest magazine but it serves as a good compliment to SI.
Great Magazine January 7, 2002 Anand Bhatia (NYC, Home of the brave) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I used to suscribe to SI, but are now thinking of changing to ESPN. I read it quite often, and the articles and features provide an interesting perspective on some of the most respected athletes. The personalites of the writers are hilarious, as well as their weekly columns. A definate must have.
Best Magazine Ever December 31, 2002 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is definately the best magazine I have ever read. I don't usually subscribe to magazines, but when I had the opportunity to subscribe in a fund raiser, I deciceded I'd give it a shot. I got my magazine a week ago and I can't stop reading it. The articles are written by down-to-earth authors, that know what they're talking about in sports. And as usual with ESPN, there are Dan Patrick's and Stuart Scott's humor. This magazine tops Sports Illustrated and is at a better price. Subscribe and get your magazine now!
Filled with fluff February 3, 2003 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
You can read this magazine in about one 1 1/2 sittings on the bathroom throne. It has a lot of useless junk in it that belongs in People. Do you really care what Jeremy Shockey has in his CD player? Once in a while it has a decent story, but most of it is athlete worship. I let my subscription run out because I started not to read it anymore. If you like sports go to SI or the Sporting News. If you like to read People, you'll love this magazine.
Not Impressed May 24, 2005 MrPeepers (Philadelphia,PA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Just waiting for my subscription to run out on this thing. Each week I glance through all it's ads and "flashy" pictures looking for some substance, but really never find much. Most of the time it gets tossed in the trash the same day I receive it. As soon as my subscription runs out,I will never bother with looking at it again. If you want a true Sports magazine with real substance get "The Sporting News".I prefer this over "Sports Illustrated" and "Espn the magazine".I'd rate them 1.The Sporting News 2.Sports Illustrated 3.Espn the Magazine
