Not bad September 10, 2004 Monica M. Patitucci (Brooklyn, NY) 16 out of 17 found this review helpful
SELF is pretty good as far as fitness mags go, but you can get a subscription cheaper (for $12) at Self.com.
Great for any age January 27, 2002 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
This is a really cool magazine because it's great for anybody, no matter how old you are. I read it, but my mom would probably find it interesting, too. It mainly focuses on a healthy lifestyle( healthy eating, exercise,etc.). The other good thing about it is it covers the topics of good karma and self-confidence, unlike other fitness-based magazines. A good read for anyone who likes to get high on life.
This is my favorite magazine! January 4, 2002 Olivia (Texas, USA) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful magazine that is pretty much suitable for any age. It has tons of helpful tips for healthy skin and hair, not to mention healthy bodies. It gives practical tips on eating, like the best cereals to buy, and it rates a lot of others. It does have advertising for products in it, but doesn't every magazine? It's main focus is on how you can keep your body healthy, with exercise tips and even a complete week planner to guide anyone through the best workout. The magazine also has a positive outlook, with articles on boosting your mood and self-esteem, along with articles on healthy, positive women that you see on TV. Overall it is a very modivational magazine to read and I love the price!
Good magazine, but long fill time! August 2, 2005 T. Bradfield Johnson (Cincinnati, OH USA) 12 out of 17 found this review helpful
I placed the order for this magazine well before my wife's birthday as a gift, and the first issue didn't arrive until over a month and a half later. Ordering it through amazon.com may not be the fastest way to get your first issue.
one big advertisement and full of nothing August 2, 2006 Apple (Frisco, TX USA) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
Self what? The entire magazine now pushes product on every inch of every page. Their product placements went from "convenient and subtle" to obviously pandering to their revenue sources. Plus the stories and tips are so far out of reality that anyone over 25 with half of a brain couldn't relate. I once enjoyed Self and their monthly self-help plans. Their core message has gotten lost in the sea of product pushing.
