This magazine stinks October 5, 2005 Kristen Jones (Louisiana) 19 out of 59 found this review helpful
I used to like Oprah, until I got a real idea of what she was all about. First of all, why would you put out a magazine with yourself on the cover of every issue? Second of all, Oprah doesn't care about anyone, but herself. She does nothing but exploit people and their mishaps, sadness, and struggle in life to make herself rich. I thought it was absurd that she would talk down on a certain fashion store because they wouldn't let her in after hours. I thought Oprah came from poverty. She should remember where she came from and start practicing some REAL humanitarian work. Oprah is just another money hungry selfish person and I don't see why anyone likes her. As far as the magazine goes, the only thing in it is ads. Oprah, please do something with yourself.

I hate to think about life whithout Oprah. May that day never come. I think that Oprah and her magaazine and media empire have done as much for women as just about anyone -- inlcuding John Grey, Tom Leonardi, Dr. Corynna Clarke, Hillary Clinton, Condi Rice, or Arte. The other great life-changing products for women you can buy are the books "The Power of Intention" and "Secrets of Sensual Lovemaking", the video "Goddess Worship" and the dvd "New Sex Now."
A great opportunity to get outside the box and do well October 31, 2004 jean luc (London - for now) 15 out of 20 found this review helpful
While this money printing machine for Oprah is certainly popular, it is little more than a slick advertising vehicle most of the time. Sorry, I know that is unpopular, but Oprah has moments in the magazine of good articles, and other materials. However, I would like to see her use her considerable power and try redefining the medium. How about keeping the content, and skipping the pages upon pages of inserts, advertising, and marketing? Are we not assaulted enough by advertising? Further, I would like to see more book reviews, considering the impact she has in promoting books from some unknown authors. With a better focus on helping others, she could really use this vehicle as a launching pad for many under-privileged people who would otherwise be shut out of the inner circles of Hollywood and Corporate publishing houses. How about it Oprah, are you willing to skip a few more bucks and change the way magazines like yours reach audiences? I hope so. Be different!
PRIMA DONNA 12 TIMES A YEAR November 24, 2004 Wes (World Citizen, Earth) 15 out of 67 found this review helpful
It makes me SICK every time I walk into a grocery store and see this THING staring back at me. I don't even need to flip past page 1 to know that this is nothing but an overblown VANITY project. I would have nothing to do with any woman who reads this falderal or watches her ego-tripping television show. BLECHH!!
TOO MUCH PHARMACEUTICAL ADVERTISING August 5, 2003 13 out of 28 found this review helpful
I really get turned off when someone is "bought" to put so many pharmaceutical ads in their magazines! (Same goes for cigarettes as well!) Too bad. As far as magazine content - I had a subscription for a year and I must say - I like her show much better. Ho Hum - nothing to write home about. Save the trees!
