2 out of 5 stars May be good for initiates to alternative care, for me it lacks depth   January 25, 2007

I first came across this magazine in my acupuncturist's waiting room, and was pleased to read interesting articles about breathing, some healthy recipes and info on teas (which is why I give it 2 stars). After a few separate 5 to 10 minute browsings, I _thought_ this would be a good magazine to get. Not so. By the time my 3rd one arrived at home I was pretty disappointed in its light, fluffy and overly simple articles about things that can and should be explored in depth. It might be a sweet (as in saccharine) and gentle introduction to alternative medicine, food, health etc for women (yes, it's very woman-oriented) that are new to these, but I find it practically useless now. Many many ads, many for products of questionable plausibility.

5 out of 5 stars Healing for a Woman's Body and Soul   July 3, 2006

"Following our dreams is about setting an intention, taking the necessary steps to bring it to life, and then letting the force of serendipity take over." ~Alanna Fincke, Editor

Marianne Williamson once said: "You can let the same force that makes flowers grow and planets move run your life, or you can do it yourself." With that in mind, I read Body + Soul to awaken the side of me that allows for such healing contemplations. Articles about living your dreams and the small-farm comeback give me hope for the future. The recent article about Beauty by the Sea is pure fun with ideas for sand scrubs, meditation while waves kiss your legs and nourishing hair treatments. They also give a list of "inspiring beach reads."

Having trouble sleeping? This magazine always has ideas for how you can become healthier and presents ideas and products that unlock secrets of health. A sample of July/August 2006 contents include:

Whole Living - Recipes for green tea ice cream
Rejuvenate - Herb baths for cooling the skin in summer
Going Natural - Meditation
Eat Well - Teas made with herbs like peppermint
Conscious Eating - Breaking bad habits
Healthy Home - Selecting the best pillow
Whole Health - Healing for asthma and learning to love the body you have
Inner Growth - Identifying spiritual road blocks and finding instant calm

I love their idea about an "action plan." This section gives ideas for how to make a difference in your life with the ideas in this magazine.

If you have an interest in organic produce, yoga, healthy herbal supplements or anything natural and nurturing, you might love this magazine.

4 out of 5 stars Worth Looking At   July 4, 2004

I found this magazine when I visited my timeshare in Tahoe recently. There are aspects of it that are a little New Age-y, if you will; but on the whole, it seemed like a very worthwhile magazine filled with good articles and good advice. I am definitely considering a subscription.

4 out of 5 stars Nice holistic heath and wellness magazine geared mainly towards women   August 2, 2006

I've been a subscriber to Body + Soul magazine for about a year now, and I look forward to each new issue. The magazine focuses on many areas of interest to me, including healthy eating, holistic health, fitness, and personal growth. The articles frequently feature practical things like recipes, buying guides, yoga or other fitness instructions, and emotional exercises (the latter of which I find particularly helpful in my work as a psychologist). My only complaints about this magazine is that there is a bit too much of a focus on spiritual/meditation type issues, which are less relevant to me, and that the magazine is on the short side with a high number of advertisements. Otherwise, I definitely enjoy Body + Soul and do plan to renew my subscription.

This magazine discusses topics such as health, spirituality, stress and lifestyles. I would recommend it to anyone. It makes life a little easier for the struggling.
