My name is Feargal of the Large Rabbits, and I am friends with Cian the Enduring One, eldest son of Cainte, father to Lugh Lamhfada, the savior of the Children of Danu. So me and Cian were crossing the vast expanse of Muirthemne on our way to alert our brothers and sisters at Magh Tuireadh of the impending advance of the evil Fomorii hordes when fortune's wheel took a happy spin and I met Kimberly, the light of my life, at an internet cafe in a trading outpost near Loch Dairbhreach. Kim and I fell in love at first sight. Cian could clearly see in my eyes that I could never be wrested from Kim's side, and knowing that the path to Magh Tuireadh was guarded by the accursed Eich-Uisge (you know of the beast as the Kelpie) and that Kim would surely perish if she joined us, Cian forged ahead alone. I stayed behind with Kim and, after a whirlwind romance, we married on a cloudless autumn day, the same day that the Children of Danu slaughtered the nefarious Fomorii at the battle of Fiodh Gaibhle.
Kimberly's father, Ron, is the head golf pro at Shepherd Hills Country Club and Resort, located on the most bucolic and pristine stretch of Loch Dairbhreach. Due to our isolated location, the course is primarily a tourist attraction. Business booms during the warm months and suffers during the winters or times of bloodshed. As I had acquired no bankable talent other than warfaring in my years (though my songs of battle I sing around the tribal fire are melodious and honeyed, I am told), my father-in-law decided to hire me as an assistant pro so I would be able to support his daughter. I quickly learned that golf is a difficult game, and that golf clubs are illogical and unwieldy striking instruments (trust me, I once handled the Spear of Kings forged by Goibhniu, god of smiths, and Luchtaine, god of carpenters, for Dagda's sake!).
Over time, I became skilled at golf, and I owe a large part of my success to Golf Digest magazine. I have written a poem-song in praise of this great publiction:
I am Feargal, the golf-ball striker/The striker, the pin-position attacker/From the mountains of Uliadh to the sad swamps of the Dal gCais/I consistently play scratch golf/Praise be to Golf Digest/Whack Whack sang my driver at this year's Sandbagger Classic/My putter true as Lugh Lamhfada's slingshot/I acquired many Skins at a golf pro's convention/Near Eas Dubhthaigh/I bought Kim a bracelet with my earnings/With Nick Faldo's advice/I choked down on my irons/and gained better accuracy/Craig Stadler, the Great Walrus, increased my club-head speed/with a series of thigh and back exercises/The Great Walrus, great, saintly-great/I am a par saver in the sands/In the woods, out of the water/I speak softly in the club house/I properly maintain my Ping irons and King Cobra woods/I am cold in match play/like the waters of the Danu/I fix my divets, I drink screwdrivers responsibly/I am friendly to the old golfer-warriors/though its a young man's game/Plentiful are my birdies/I grip my putter like Ben Crenshaw.
Give Golf Digest a try! It will improve your game, I promise!
P.S. Kim's sister who lives on the coast of Ellan Vannin just had a baby, so all my lessons for this week will have to be rescheduled.

Over the many years that I have subscribed to Golf Digest, I've come across extremely useful information from world class teachers and the top players that has improved my game. In addition to appreciating the superb teaching article, I always look forward to the new product editions. Equally informative and entertaining are the various feature article and interviews. Golf Digest is simply the best golf magazine!

Golf Digest is the quintessential all around golf magazine. They write about lessons, travel, equipment and golf news. They seem to be a little biased recently with the acquisition of many of today's top golf stars, by not writing anything negative about them or their sponsors, i.e. Tiger and Nike. They are usually right on with their reviews of places to play and I enjoy how they pick one location and focus on it. I.e. Cape Cod, the courses that you can play and other activities that are around the vicinity. I wish they would choose some more exotic locales such as South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and South America though.

Golf Digest is the best magazine, covers great players, have standard lessons from top golf teachers and schools and allways very useful tips.
However, it only has one thing against... too much advertising or too many advertisers!!!

I've had a subscription to this mag for years. Great stories and the photos are top of the line. While it was a much better pub when the NY Times owned it (the people who worked there actually golfed), since Conde has bought it, it's gone downhill a bit. Still, it's hard to kill a great sport.
