Sounds like.... June 9, 2008 Brewster (Clementon, NJ USA) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am impressed with this debut album, although I look forward to her next one, since I think she CAN do a little bit better with song selection, and possibly with production. Let's hope her record company and managers give her the promotion that her talent deserves. Otherwise, this could be her ONLY album. Too many great talents would be right up there with the best if only their people had done the right promotion. As for her sound.... I found that on some of the songs she sounded like Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, but on other songs, there is a hint of the energy and hard-hitting vocals of Gretchen Wilson. In comparison with the vocal talent of the most beautiful women of country music, she is NOT as good as Carrie Underwood, but she is BETTER than Taylor Swift. Her personality, energy, and amazing good looks give her a chance to become VERY successful, but only IF she is given the right promotion before it is too late. Let's see her on late-night and daytime talk shows, singing for a larger audience. How about it Ellen, Conan, Letterman, Regis & Kelly, Leno, etc???????
She sould stick to dancing June 21, 2008 Amy Denero 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
She's adorable. Who would disagree? But she can't sing. She should stick to dancing. That she can really do!!!!!
Not bad. May 23, 2008 Stefan Hayes 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you're looking for a decent country album, you can't really go wrong here. This is by no means Lynn, Parton or even Twain, but it's not bad. There is an ever-so-slight pop touch that adds to this LP's appeal. It's not boring, that's saying so much in today's music market. Pick it up, I think you'll find yourself spinning it more than twice. Forget the "Dancing With The Stars" hoopla, this stuff just isn't that tacky.
Upbeat country that stays with you May 31, 2008 C. Thornburg (Pennsylvania) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Julianne Hough is amazing -- she's sings as well as she dances -- and Dancing with The Stars fans know that that is saying something. The songs are upbeat and catchy and the best one, "That Song in My Head," does just what the lyrics say -- it stays in your head all day.
Who knew? June 1, 2008 Sandra Elliott (Virginia) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Who knew that Julianne had such a great singing voice? I'd compare her to Carrie Underwood, with maybe a little more country stylings. The free song is great - can't wait to get the whole CD. I would agree somewhat (if what the previous reviewer said is really the case) that the songs could maybe be more wholesome, but country songs do tend to be a lot about drinking and such...so I guess it's expected. The biggest pleasant surprise is that she has a wonderful solid country voice. Totally unexpected! Sing & Dance on, Julianne!
