3 out of 5 stars Just another one   June 13, 2008

I stopped being a huge (and I mean, huge!) Madonna fan in the 90s, however I continued to follow her career and to go to her concerts. After the double disaster of Music and American Life, this CD is just another good one (not as good as Confessions though). The voice is certainly not great, the writing is awful most of the time (all of these 'get,' 'feel,' come on!) but it's perfect for the gym (if you skip She's Not Me and Spanish Lesson, which are definitely unbearable).

5 out of 5 stars Raw and Sweet!   June 19, 2008

Three stars?????????????? Sorry but the cover says it all! Hard yet oh so sweet. Wake up America!! After her multi award winning, 10 million selling, record breaking pop opus that was "Confessions On A Dancfloor", the Queen of pop goes urban. Out goes high camp electro gloss for a much harder, deeper dance experience. She could easily have given us another electro album to compliment the massivley successful Confessions but this is after all Madonna and she never likes to cover things twice....dont get me wrong there is a massive element of dance running through this album but not in the Euro-electro way that Confessions was presented. If Confessions was her return to the dancefloor then this is the return to her underground R&B roots that eventually made her the most famous and successful female singer on the planet, produced largely by IT men Timbaland and Justin Timberlake, Candy is in the wake of Confessions a triumph. It could easily have turned into a disaster....Madonna does R&B??? but what she and her team have actually accomplished is pretty much what she did with American Life, marry genres together to produce something altogether, different, fun and exciting! Albums by Britney, Nelly Furtado and Rihanna tread the majority down the R&B path but Madonna has thrown in her usual trademark themes "Spanish Lesson" has the trademark Hispanic Madonna guitars whilst "Dance Tonight" includes electro synths so achingly cool they could have just popped up from her debut album Madonna, the only gripe is that "Shes Not Me" wasnt divided up into a part 1 and 2 favoured by the likes of Janet Jackson and Mariah...you see the end of this song trancends from old school 80's pop into full on 00's dance not that dissimilar to the stuff on Confessions and would have made a great part 2 dance-athon. Coupled with tracks produced by Danja and Pharrell Williams "Candy" may yet turn out to be the most successful long player she has given us for a long time, especially stateside where her chart power has waned somewhat this last few years. And that is who this album is aimed squarely at, i doubt it will do as well as Confessions did in Europe or indeed other territories, but having said America is the biggest music market and if she can recapture her throne there, im sure the rest of the world will follow. The only thing left to say is that i cannot wait for the accompanying tour

4 out of 5 stars Amazing!   June 24, 2008

Beeing short... buy it and scape having just the normal version of the album. It's worthy. Why? Well... the artist needs no introductions... she's unique!
The product... it's simply amazing. And I'm telling this not for the candies that came within (they make you think it has a flavor, but when you taste it, there comes a surpise!) but for the iniciative and the quality.
The odds: I just think we could have a better device to really close the box and to support the booklet inside. Besides, a material that attract less fingerprints over the box' cover and the booklet would be better.

The content... it's reaveling itself each day SWEETY and impossible to stop listening, though I didn't like every songs. But as SHE wold say it... Noboby's perfect!
