Mudcrutch Rocks! May 21, 2008 Sharon A. Ritchie (Yonkers, NY) Mudcrutch is the side band for Tom Petty and as usual it delivers. Each sog has it's own "identity" which makes it a pleasure to listen to.
The Law of Diminishing Returns has absolutely no effect of this record! May 23, 2008 The Aeolian Kid (WAMESIT) I've been listening to the Mudcrutch album every day now for two weeks straight. The more I hear this music, the more I want to hear it. The Law of Diminishing Returns has absolutely no effect of this record! Will Hermes was right. This album is great! Also, if - like me - you're a sucker for that sound of a blend between The Byrds, meets Neil Young & Crazy Horse, meets The Grateful Dead, then you're really gonna love this new Tom Petty & Crew album called MUDCRUTCH ! ... There's this one song - track #5 / Crystal River - that reminds me of the kind of stuff that Amir, Johnny, and me used to do in Landing In Libra. ... It's out there. Yeah, crutches may get stuck in the mud - but if stuck you get, when this music is playing, you will feel like you're soaring through the air! ... YOWZA! - The Aeolian Kid
A Good Bar Band May 25, 2008 Steve Dossey (Somewhere just beyond or before the crossroads) 0 out of 9 found this review helpful
First, contrary to the Rolling Stone review, this is nowhere close to the artistry of Sweetheart of the Rodeo or American Beauty...The songs that are worth listening to are: Shady Grove, Orphan of the Storm, This is a Good Street, June Apple, The Wrong Thing to Do, Lover of the Bayou, Bootleg Flyer and House of Stone...( out of 14 songs)...the rest are wanna be's
Incredible May 25, 2008 HAL (Carbondale, Colorado United States) Buy it Now! An instant classic for those who like a little twang in their Petty. We can't seem to pull it out of the rotation on the 5 disc player. The teenagers like it as well! "Crystal River" is a personal favorite as well as "Scare Easy" and "Bootleg Flyer". Every track is a winner and the whole thing goes down smooth and easy. Just can't seem to get enough of TP these days, he is one of the greatest American songwriters ever and continues to show up with great stuff consistently for over 30 years.
ABSOLUTETLY AWESOME ! May 25, 2008 Pamela Irvin (Palm Bay, FL USA) This CD was everything I had hoped for and more! It has a fantastic southern rock feel. My favorite song is "The Wrong Thing to Do", followed by "Scare Easy". And, being a survivor of Florida's devastating hurricanes in the fall of 2004, I can truly appreciate and identify with "Orphan of the Storm". Tom Petty is a masterful songwriter. He keeps it real and doesn't sell his soul for corporate approval or the "almighty dollar". I can't wait for more from Mudcrutch. Please schedule a concert in Gainesville for all of us die hards! We love your music.
