5 out of 5 stars Nice Tunes   May 27, 2008
M. Zettler
Mudcrutch give a more country-style tint to the typical Heartbreaker's sound. My personal favorite would be "Shady Grove". The CD was recorded live in the studio in only a couple of days which seems to have more pros than cons as it has the same fresh sound as the Travelling Wilburys recordings. This CD is a must for every Tom Petty fan or anybody enjoying laid-back music.

5 out of 5 stars Petty and Co. keep on pleasing   May 29, 2008

Mudcrutch is as refreshing as the Traveling Wilbury's. It is so wonderful to hear some good from the heart music. With all the rap crap on the airways it's great to hear real music again. Tom seems to never run out of great tunes. Mike Campbell is one of the finest guitarist's in the history of music and Tom Petty is blessed to have him around. Get this LP now!!! It grows on you from the very first note.

3 out of 5 stars Half arsed album. Could have been much better!   May 29, 2008

As someone who has purchased all Tom Petty's albums I am little let down by this one. It just sounds right but there's something missing. It sounds like "we have to make a record", although there are a couple of good songs. Just an average record. To me, it sounds very country, I prefer the old Petty sound!!

A little country, a little rock, best Petty & company ever! Crystal River's instrumental is beautiful.
