Awesome! July 8, 2008 David F. Hannah (Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Jemaine and Bret are so ridiculously awesome all efforts at praise kinda seem to me pithy, bland and "current". Their band, their TV show, their act and this record is/are/whatever....simply incredible. I knew I loved their songs with the intensity of a thousand suns probably about 1 minute after first hearing them. Totally. Buy this CD. Buy their DVD. Do whatever it takes to invest in their incredible talent. Werd.

Especially if you have seen the show "Flight of the Conchords", you will love the album.

I really enjoy Flight of the Conchords, and their stand up routine. My problem with this album is with the way in which their material was sterilized. Instead of simply recording the duo rehearsing their repertoire live, in front of an audience, they decided to go for a very over-produced, serious feeling which is not only not funny, it is down right awkward to listen to (and not the good kind of awkward!) If you simply *must* own something by these performers, I would highly suggest either: Buying one of their stand up performances on DVD, or paying to see them preform live. Songs can be funny and comedians can be serious, but comedians preforming comical songs in a serious fashion is just not pleasant. Conclusion: This album is a major PASS, however, the *content* of what was on this album is absolutely hilarious and most defiantly worth pursuing.
THE GREATEST ALBUM SINCE THE INVENTION OF RECORDED MUSIC! April 22, 2008 Tracy Leverton (Vienna, VA United States) 0 out of 13 found this review helpful
Everything we need know about life, love, relationships, and music is contained in this cd. Buy "Flight of the Conchords" now and you'll never want to buy another cd again. The New Zealand brain trust is in the house, and it's your chance for a $10 consultation. Dr. Phil, Dr. Laura, Judge Judy, Oprah: retire now because Bret and Jemaine are on the job. This cd should be the cornerstone of any record collection. Throw out your Dylan, give away your Stones, say goodbye to Springsteen (keep your Bromberg): "Flight of the Conchords" renders those recordings shabby and quaint. If you love smart, sophisticated, wry entertainment, look no further. Buy one cd for the house, one for the Prius, one for the cubicle, one to jam into your Ipod, and one for your girlfriend's love shack. On a scale of one star to five stars, this cd rates a galaxy!!!
very good, not great though May 14, 2008 magbas77 (oregon) This album kind of grew on me. The songs are of course, for the most part, exactly like what was on the show. That's fine, it's more of the songs they decided to leave off that keep this from getting a 5 star review. I found that two of my favorites, "Bret you got it goin' on" and "If you're into it" were left off. Overall, if you're a fan, you'll get your money's worth.
