What I think is funny is how un-Christ-like all the Christians react to information or theories from their fellow man.
Its like they are angry that somehow now that Chopra has written this book, that God and Jesus are going to be really angry with Christians and just mass punish everyone for having ideas made from God given minds. The punishment: not letting them into heaven, the heaven they are so scared they are not going to get into, the heaven that is so far away from them. The kingdom within.
So what if Chopra has these ideas? Is it going to spoil everyone from getting into the 'traditional' heaven? What's there to be scared of? If you believe Jesus' words as they are displayed in the bible are 100% accurate, then you have nothing to be afraid of. You obviously will be saved from hell and living it up in heaven while the rest of us burn.
If you are not open to your brothers ideas about reality and religion, then just let him be. Telling people not to bother reading this book is just plain fear mongering and the first step towards spanish inquisitions and witch hunting.
At least when Chopra poses a theory it is lighthearted and take it or leave it. When a Christian tells you a theory, its either take it or burn in hell. Its just all too clear, Christians are sometimes the most un-Christ-like people in the world. And for what? Because the rest of us are going to burn in hell and they are all going to heaven? Well if they are right they have nothing to doubt. Ah, but there is doubt. Well the rest of us don't feel forsaken. We just feel the love. And thats all.
I give it 5 stars because you know you're on to something when the crazy Christians get mad and try to block free information for no good reason at all besides their fear of not getting into heaven.

For someone like me who grew up without any religious background at all, I find The Third Jesus to be an inspiring blueprint for how to become an evolved person! The book has given me a way that is comfortable and undemanding to begin to learn about Jesus's spiritual lessons in their own right, independent of church dogma. What may be the long-lasting legacy of this book, in fact, is how profoundly it shifts the focus from who Deepak calls the second Jesus, the one developed for Christians, to Jesus as a spiritual teacher, a teacher who can help you evolve your consciousness. The gift of Jesus's lessons are offered, regardless of one's religious affiliation. I especially love the exercises, which take Jesus's teachings, such as "As you sow, so shall you reap," one by one, and offer a way to understand them from your own inner, spiritual perspective.

The Third Jesus... as Deepak Chopra so beautifully writes, is the Jesus whose teachings we have somehow failed to heed. It is the Jesus who tells us the "Kingdom of Heaven is within" and to "Be Still and know that I am God" which are messages directing us back to ourselves so that we might contemplatively experience God. Jesus tells of the need for unconditional love, non judgment and embodying the innocence of a child to enter into this awareness. One need only read a newspaper to realize how we have failed to understand. Yet throughout history we learn of Saints and Sages who have understood. It is the responsibility of each of us individually to seek that awareness and realize our true potential. Deepak Chopra is simply reminding us.

Deepak Chopra has proven once again that no amount of darkness can extinguish the light of a single candle. His expression of his perspective on the Bible and Jesus' teachings is fascinating, straight forward and refreshing. I am very grateful that he has given so much of himself in producing this book. As a cradle Lutheran/Missouri Synod, I have to say that I really appreciate his insights. If he encounters anger along the way, it will surely be out of ignorance or fear. I see this book as another expression of love from Deepak Chopra... and it does not disappoint.

All paths converge in this wonderful book that transcends all limiting beliefs and opens to all an expanded vision of the highest consciousness that includes all faiths. Now that we live in a global world, this is what we need most-- beliefs, caring, and a spiritual vision that unite, rather than divide. We're indeed fortunate -- and yes, blessed, that Deepak Chopra has stepped forward to offer that.
