Enticing and haunting February 17, 2001 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Nakki produces a romantic, healing, while vaguely haunting music that gently transports you back to a time when music was more than just entertainment. Nakki emulates the traditional music of his Navajo-Ute in a way that is both touching and mystic. Be prepared to be taken on a journey where you will be introduced to the feelings an impressions that Nakki himself experiences. He will show you through his music what the world around his means to him, and he will instill that awe of life in you.Nakki doesn't fall into the trap of giving the musical tourist exactly what he expects. There is no chanting or jingling bells, no corny sound effects or war cries. Instead he simply taps into that inner peace that we all look for. Perhaps that's the reason so many people have come to appreciate his music. The universal understanding of, and need for, peace and insight.
Nakai's Best August 2, 2001 J. Zambrano (Echo Park, Los Angeles, CA United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I put this CD in and press Repeat All. Listening to it all day helps me to focus and follow through with what I need. It will speak to you. I am a long time fan of Nakai and feel this is his best.
Southwest deserts for your ears and soul December 29, 2004 Wes (World Citizen, Earth) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
You're familiar with the hundreds of "soundscape" recordings that have waves crashing, or rainstorms. Well this blows them all away with evocative imagery of nighttime in the deserts of the American Southwest. All you have to do is turn out the lights, put this on and you are virtually camping out under a full moon on a warm night among mesas and canyons...and coyotes.
Musical peace.... November 5, 2006 K. Kress (Illinois) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The pure tones of this native American flute are beautiful and calming, transporting me to a place of peace and well-being. In fact, I sometimes listen to it at bedtime as I fall asleep. It is elemental music at its best.
