Take this CD with you to canyon country July 15, 1998 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I recently had the opportunity to explore canyons of SE Utah and took the Nakai CD with me. Relaxing in the evening watching the hues of the canyon walls change as the sun was setting while listening to Nakai was a transformational experience. I have never been in a place where the music was so closely tied with the surroundings.
Classic Nakai Work May 10, 2001 Gary Schneider (Orange County, California) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am continually amazed at Nakai's simple on one level- yet complex on another level- virtuoso and playing style and technique of the Native American Indian Flute. This album is classic Carlos Nakai that can simply be played as relaxing and meditative background music or studied note by note. This CD has been an excellent addition to my personal and cherished Nakai collection.
Native American Flute lesson July 23, 2003 Christine Saalbach (San Antonio TX) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
In April 2003, I purchased an F# Native American Flute (NAF) and practice every night before bedtime, accompanied by my Golden Retriever on squeakie toy. To learn the NAF, I use a book provided by the flute's seller, but I was not sure what a true master of the NAF could accomplish. I knew of Nakai, but had not heard him play until I purchased the Canyon Trilogy CD at the Grand Canyon North Rim last week. In my own NAF interpretations, this CD shows me that I'm on the right track, but what a long journey I have ahead of me! Thank you for your NAF lessons, Ray! Now how will I teach my Golden Retriever?
Flute Medicine October 1, 2003 Kimberley Ann Williams (Los Angeles, California) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I can only thank R. Carlos Nakai for recording this treasure trove of music. It has given me the medicine I have needed. It is so true that sound is sacred and it can be abused and used as a weapon or it can be honoured and cultivated as medicine. Nakai has made music medicine. Kokopelli - the humpbacked flute player of the Ancienct Ones would be pleased to know that we have one amoungst us today who makes good sound offerings to the spirit.
Easy listening. September 14, 2005 Travis L. Houzenga (Chicago, IL) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am diversifying my life and purchased this CD to explore a little native culture. This music is beautiful easy listening. I like to play it as background music when I have company.
